Tuesday and Thursday pictures

I was away from late morning on Tuesday until last night so I don't have any Wednesday pics, but I got a few before I left and some this morning. Missed a couple of last flowers yesterday and with the weather forecast who knows if there will be any more pictures this season. Like most of the east coast we're on hurricane watch here--even got a recorded phone call from the police department advising us to have emergency supplies to last several days!!

Really fabulous butterfly pictures. Great bloomers today with SANDRA ELIZABETH as my favorite.

All of these shots are so pretty. Can't really single out a favorite, but I do like your seedling. Butterfly pics are great, too. Do take care--I have been looking at the Weather Channel website, and know that New England and the East Coast could be in for a tough time. Now is the time to prepare and I'm sure you are doing that. Stay safe. Avedon

I took about ten nice photos of the garden the other day, trying to get the 360 view, but that's too many to post here. Maybe I'll do that in the Gallery some day. So I chose this one for Thursday Tea.It's been a beautiful day, but I only puttered around a little early this morning dead heading and doing a bit of weeding. I just came in from having Yorkshire Gold tea in the orchard under the apple tree. It's so nice and peaceful down there until around this time in the afternoon when people begin going to and coming back from work, then it's constant traffic up and down the road. Even though I'm shielded by the privet hedge tunnel, I can still hear and see most of them. Time to leave.

Mantis, I can't remember who hybridized it but I think I just fell for it on the Lily Auction and bought it not thinking. But it is a real trooper here so all turned out well. You can't tell in pictures but it has big flowers. Nat, the extra earlies had compleatly dried out scapes which I cut long ago but these are just regular season bloomers and I had to cut done scapes. On July 4th? No way that should be happening. And as I walk the garden I see scapes with one or two buds left. Soon I will be cutting more scapes. Of course, others are just starting. Nancy, it is always sad to get to the end of bloom season but you did have some nice rebloom this year. It is so hot early here this year with lots of rain so I am wondering if I might get extra rebloom here this year. I sure am hoping so.

Those dutch iris are stunning! I love Majestic Ruler. Such a lucious colour. Ink Patterns is also really pretty. I have an iris very similar to that called Messenger but it is an intermediate. It's first bloom came today actually. I have to get out and get some pictures but I've been so busy lately. Going to try later today. Jason

Glad you all seem to like the butterfly pictures. Taking them did drive me a little crazy since the butterfly kept moving every time I had it in focus and then I'd have to find it again. Fortunately it seemed to really like this plant so I got lots of chances.

Kay, Nancy, and Casey-- Blessing is one that I really like. You may have noticed that I'm a nut about performance and this one has been blooming since July 8.

Nancy, I love that Miner's Findings is very late. I don't like that it often doesn't open all the way.

Avedon, nat, and lisa--I've been quite happy with the seedling. It bloomed far longer than either parent.

I guess BLESSING is the winner today,as its my favorite too,and I love your BUTTERFLY pictures.I watched a gorgeous Butterfly today hitting all my Zinnias,and I didnt have a camera with me.This Butterfly was a pretty Black one with a little Red on it.
