Last bloom :(

Cape Coral's last bloom on rebloom scape, looking a little paler than usual, but I keep looking at it because it's my only bloom today and I think it's my last bloom of the season.....

aww! its so sad, isn't it to see the last bloom till next season, and each year seems longer to wait for a bloom.Your bloom is a very pretty one, tooI have one still blooming, (Last Reward is still going strong, and Beautiul Edging is about to rebloom, but,it only has 6 buds on the one rebloom scape.My last bloom on Marietta Surprise was yesterday, and not seeing any rebloom scapes on it.

I believe, there only was one scape! I know first blooms can be different but this different? It's as if someone came to my backyard and switched plants on me! I prefer the first bloom much more! I guess I'll have to wait until next summer to see what it's going to show me. Weird.

Diane, I do not have Ascot. I've seen the pictures and it does blow me away for the look, but I've heard it's only lightly scented. Not that that would keep me from getting an excellent performing rose though. Chrysler Imperial is surprisingly healthy here overall- I've never had mildew on mine yet over the years I have grown it, and it's supposed to be susceptible. Black spot is usually what I see, but doesn't start to rear its ugly head until September. It's notably superior to Fragrant Cloud or Chicago Peace for black spot resistance, and superior even to several of my Austins in that regard. I wish we had a good local nursery like that around me! CI will usually die-back to the snow line or crown but comes back well. Steven

I think I lost Olfactory Evidence, it has neve4 been happy with me, so no real surprise. Yes, I am whining again, but I found something had dug up All Things to All Men and Make It Snappy. No sign of plants anywhere. A raccoon has been hanging around lately, but usually they just dig newly planted daylilies and quite neatly lay them to the side. Nothing here. There are some healthy looking roots left in the hole, but no crown or sign of the plants. ATTAM was reblooming just a week or so ago. Already have Make It Snappy on order, but it was such a nice clump. Sorry, whine over. But had to get it out! Love Magic Dancer, such vivid colors. I always like Final Touch too.

Haha, Mantis! Obviously not August Groom but August Wedding (can’t have one without the other, though!!) I corrected it on the post. It is more yellow on this rebloom cycle. Some of my Pierce daylilies multiply very well while others do not. I have not made notes on low bud count so can’t answer that definitively. I assume that means I have not been unhappy with bud count!! Nancy, I like this compact look on the zinnias also. I hope to find these next year if they don’t reseed. Sherry, Karin Cooke is so pretty whenever it blooms-earlier blooms have much darker edging.

I think we could all wish to have a last bloom that looks as pretty as that one. I too hate to see the bloom season end, but it's nice to have some eye candy to finish with.

A very saturated and rich shade of coral. I suspect it needs your heat to open well.

Thanks, Everyone! I have so enjoyed my first real full-blown daylily season. Cape Coral has been my longest bloomer this year at 9 1/2 weeks, including one rebloom scape. (And it is not listed as a rebloomer). We certainly do have the heat here and it did always open well.
