I'm in 10A on the west coast and my local nursery sells them in 3 gal pots for $9. Supposedly they do well here, but I never see them planted! I was tempted to buy one to try it.

I've had one in the ground for years and it does very well. Mine blooms in the spring. :o) It gets close to full sun. In fact, I was just pruning it back since it was over the screen enclosure.

I have one also - was here when we moved in. It gets morning sun, and late afternoon sun located on the north side of the house. Blooms like mad in spring even after this past winter. Trying to propagate some more at this moment.

I have a very large Brunfelsia shrub - it bloomed profusely this spring and is blooming again, albeit sparsely - it perfumes the entire street! Mine has lots of seedlings growing under and around it - you might check to see if anyone has a nice-sized seedling to give you.
