Lisa, that is sooo pretty. The leaves are nice even without the flowers. Will you have at the swap?

Katkin, I'm afraid to chop it up, even though the pot is very full. Last time I divided it, I lost one of the plantlets (or rather it died after I gave it away). I think I must not know how to separate them properly.

If I bring the whole thing, do you want to divide it for me?
It is even better-looking in person!

Bernie, Sorry you didn't make it. From what I hear there will be many more swaps coming up soon. Katkin, Do you know what color the plumeria are. Not that it matter much. The trees make excellent places for orchids. Ginny, I am sure they will sprout. They are very easy to start. Just throw them down anywhere. Hopefully I will have some orange soon.

Treefrog, after reading up on the avocado some more, I have decided that if the lulu is still thriving by next summer I am going to buy a brogon like you have suggested. That way I will have fruit summer and winter ! I already know where I am going to put it ! I had a great time Thursday too ! I am going to be on the look out for opportunities to taste more of the tropical fruits. DH has always said the he "didn`t like fruit " so I always put my thoughts of a fruit orchard on the back burner. But , if I could get him to tastes some other stuff................. He HATED the passion fruit that I brought home, and of course I LOVED it ! A trip to growgrow place sounds like a fun time ........I am in :)

Nam Doc Mai Mango

Charleslou23, Nam Dok Mai's are the 2nd or 3rd largest mango export from this area, all sold as cooking mangos. (KP's are the major export and R2E2's either 2nd or 3rd.) Also in the Asian markets here they're sold as cooking mangos. And all the agricultural notes put out on them categorise them as cooking mangos. Of course, any mango can be cooked, and any mango can be eaten raw/fresh, depending on personal tastes. I also know people who eat raw green mango dipped in soy sauce. There's no accounting for taste. I did actually try a fully ripe Nam Dok Mai (off my own trees) but it didn't appeal to me. I prefer one I have called Strawberry mango, but I don't know if that is an official variety name or not. The other really good one is an unnamed variety which the previous owner of my place developed but never registered. So there's only one tree of that, at my place. But I still eat and enjoy other varieties of mango as well.

Yikes! I looked at the pot that El Tigre is in, and it is bursting from the strain! I can see bulges pushing through the plastic in an effort to break out. The pot will have to be cut off.

I'll bring it Sunday, to Treefrog's, for surgery.

Surgery huh? This playdate is turning into a learning experience...is that some type of heliconia....I want to watch the surgery...the first time I dug up a piece to give away I was surprised to find out they were all attached....new gardener.....give me a break...theres tons I dont know :-)
