Where would you put the house?
Comments (6)All very good things to think about. As for the woods, I don't plan to actually keep them all..alot will need to be cleared for pasture area, of course. As for zoning issues...the only real zoning issues are those imposed by the county..and those imposed by the seller..this is not in a development..this is land on a mountain..there are a handful of names in the area and the land has been passed from generation to generation and is all "owned". The only time the land gets sold is if an owner decides to sell off a portion of what he owns for whatever reason..which was what happened in our case...and believe me the people on the mountain don't "allow" just anyone to purchase it. The original owner made certain restrictions, such as no pig or chicken farms, no mobile homes, and the land can not be subdived and sold off. Additionally, the owner owned another 11.5 acres surrounding our acreage and that was purchased by my father in law. So his land backs my property and one side and the original owners homestead is on the other side. I imagine that any gas stations or concrete plants will be built in the valley..which is were the population resides. But it's always good to consider those things...I don't want to be too close to any neighbors anyway. RJ...See MoreWhat color shingles would you put on this house?
Comments (11)I always say that the darker the better. The contrast really classes up a house I have had 3 brick houses with one brick being a really orangy brick. I cant remember the brand aND COLOR BUT have found that this one which is a shingle/shake & has black, charcoal and brown was the absolute prettiest and got compliments all the time. I disagree about the too busy look for your brick. your brick is NOT a busy brick at all and with the addition of those colors I suggested and maybe changing the shutters to black, you will add so much to the resale value of your house someday. Its a very classy look. Good luck....See Morewanting to move this summer, when would you put house on market?
Comments (10)I'm a buyer. If a house is on the market a long time I presume there is something wrong with it; the asking price is too high. The FHA sponsors 30% to 40% of the mortgage market now, and it has tightened its lending standards this year (albeit modestly). The Federal Reserve will stop buying morgage-backed securities and Fannie/Freddie debt 3/31/10, and the tax credit will expire 30 days later. For these reasons and others, I think volume will collapse this summer, and prices will follow. Put it on the market ASAP and price it to sell....See MoreWhere would you put the address plaque on this house?
Comments (24)not helps, illumination is essential. while the firemen might be able to see the flames coming out of your roof at night, the ambulance guys cant guess which house has the heart attack victim laying on the floor inside. worse yet, how will the pizza delivery person find your house? i'm ok with a 2 digit number on a post/column, anything more than that should go horizontally, i like your right side of the garage....See Morechiefgraybear
