Need to replace beloved tree - please help!

We have recently had our majestic live oak removed. It was over 80 years old, huge, and was the focal point and anchor of our property. The tree was causing problems for our neighbors and in addition their building plans condemned our tree which had half its roots and branches on their property.

The loss of the tree is huge. It had softened and cooled both our houses and drives. There is a massive void where it once stood. We are anxious to plant another tree in its place as soon as possible so I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions for the species of tree we could plant here.

The site has limitations. This tree is to be planted between our drive and that of our neighbors. The distance between the drives is about 10 feet of which there is a strip about 6 feet of our property available for planting the tree. Another oak or any tree that has spreading/invasive roots that will damage the drives are not options. As we have a two story house, we need a tallish tree to provide sufficient scale and shade.

We are considering a multi trunk foxtail palm about 18 feet tall but as we are in zone 9b (or possibly 10 according to the current thread on this subject - we are in the north of Pinellas County) are we risking losing the palm in a cold snap? Is there a better tree for this purpose?
