I went to the tour and thought it was better this year than last. I've been going for the last 5-6 years now. Some years are better than others or have gardens that appeal more to my taste. I very much enjoyed garden 11, 1 and 5. Did not get to gardens 7,8,9 and 10 due to time. Garden 1 was my favorite. Over the top for some but, a true delight for me. I am a fan of Designer, Keeyla Meadows. She has a eye for color which is my strong point in my own garden. Her artistic talents surpass many average landscape/garden designers. Garden 1 was like being in a tropical jungle, WOW. Although it's not my style I can appreciate it's beauty and form. Garden 5 was more average but, fabulous at the same time. The well established landscape was truely thought through before planting. There was a definite color and pattern theme. It was outstandingly beautiful in a ordinary way. All the other gardens were ok and I can't speak for the gardens we missed. I will attend every year as long as the quality stays the same. So far,so good.

Jean- They don't sell at these at all, some of these people hybridize but these are private gardens, not sales gardens. Last weekend I went to Carolyn Youngs and that was an open garden, meaning they advertised it and come one, come all. They even had news channel 12 there which is our local Long Island news channel. These are the kinds of things that would be announced (and in this case were announced) in the community events section of the newspaper if you notify them. These gardens this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday are only for members of the Long Island Daylily Society and called Members Only Tour Gardens. I am sure if a member brought a friend with them who is not a club member, no one would kick you out but the event is ment for club members to show off their daylilies to other club members. They are set up in a certain order, in other words garden one from a certain time in the morning, two mid day and three in the afternoon. You go to them in order and would not show up at the afternoons garden three first thing in the morning and vice versa. Open gardens are usually all day or most of the day like from 10 to 4 and you get there whenever is convenient for you as they are expecting vistors in the garden all day for the posted hours. There are more open gardens next weekend so I should be going to more daylily viewings. These were announced by flyers sent out to club members but I don't know what else they did to get people to come.

Did anyone else make it? It was fantastic. I really enjoyed the Clark garden. She has done an amazing job. Does anyone know of other garden tours coming up in Bucks or Montgomery county? Thanks, Bellatrix
