I'm sorry to say that I don't believe that I have his book: "The Book of Bromeliads and Hawaiian Tropical Flowers". Here are 2 of 3 of the results of my attempts to do bigeneric crosses with Orthophytum "Warren Loose'. These guys are tiny and I've added some fert pellets and they may be helping, but these guys have no lust for life. I've come to the conclusion that there are some "universal donors". I've got 2 neos that seem to cross with anything reasonable. Are they the best choices? No, but I always seem to end up using them just in case nothing else works and then wind up with just them working.

It is not a perfumy fragrance...more of a musky...cinnaminy..kind of 1950's wanna eat it crayon fragrance (crayons smell different these days). It is unusually delicious...sexy if you will, and I find my self frequently going to sniff...well worth the C note....there is probably four inches of new growth since I got it in early August...it appears to be pushing out new branches already...it still get six hours of full sun and the temps have been in the 90's...it loves it.

My daughter has 2 American Girl dolls plus 3 of the Target/Walmart knockoffs. DD is a budding hairdresser and the hair on the AG dolls holds up very well to her styling efforts while the cheaper dolls' hair has gotten fuzzy and nappy looking. Since she likes to style hair, she got the styling video, chair, and accessories with the doll last year for Christmas. This year she wants a My Twinn. You send the company a picture of your kid and they design the doll to look like her. BTW, the Target clothes will fit the AG doll and are much cheaper. Also my DD is very horse oriented. The AG horses are very expensive. The Target "My Generation" horses look the same and cost about half as much. Labmomma, the AG dolls are quite collectable, especially the original dolls by Pleasant Co. Saw a doll on ebay that was damaged still have bids around $70. The bitty baby you gave away was probably worth quite a bit. MH

I am less concerned about the bedding and more about the artwork on the walls. Here's why. The bedding you will use for maybe 2, 2.5 years. Then she will move to a bed, and you'll be buying new bedding all over again. So yes, get what YOU want for the crib. But are you going to want to replace the artwork in a few years when she starts to show interest in fairies, ABC's, ballet, or race cars? I would look for something more youthful and lighthearted for the artwork. I like Les' idea of the red (though I think she forgot the link to whatever she wanted you to see at JCP). My DD (now 7) had a cute red/white crib quilt and very pale apple green walls. Not TOO girly, but fresh and colorful without being too much. As soon as she started having her own opinions, though, we painted her walls pink and got a pink and white quilt for her bed! (Her choices.) Another option could be periwinkle, which IMO is a gender-neutral color and could be pretty with the wood crib.
