Victorio, the name, is teh original machine made over 40 years ago. Since then, there have been major improvements and many name changes as well. If the one you got has a wooden pusher and a small aluminium tray to guide some of the strained material out through the conical strainers which have big wing nuts on them, that model is no longer made, and has been out of producting about 15 years now. The newer models have a similar appearance, but the strainers are twist on wand held in place with a single small thumbscrew. Also the strainers have wrap around plastic spatter shields and the cranking shaft has an O ring seal so liquids don't leak out that end. Villaware, Roma, and a newer name are now the current models and all are the same design which has major improvements over the original. I had three different versions, and one was the oldest and was called Victorio, but the latest one is Villaware. None of the strainers are interchangable with the older model. Victorio is the ORIGINAL name for the same kind of food strainer as mentioned in many posts. The most efficent, least problematic, and most reliable is the Roma model, which was previously named Villaware, and before that Victorio. Ever time the name has changed, it appears that the designs also change slightly. Comparing an older model Victorio to the latest Roma is all followes: Original Victorio model 200: no wrap wround spatter guard no shaft seal no extended waste tube big wingnuts on the screens wooden pusher leaky design Roma: shaft has O ring seal wrap around spatter shield twist on screens extended waste tube all plastic, and cast aluminium housing no leaks ALL food strainers in ALL your links are one in the same, and can also go by the name Weston, Back to Basics, and a few other common names they went by in the past years. All show the proper wrap around spatter screens, twist on strainers, and extended waste tubes. The ONLY one to avoid is the vacuum cup type that mounts with no screw on clamp. The vacuum ones don't seem to hold firm enough. All the machines listed have only the SINGLE tomato scrainer screen, so if you plan to do seedy berries like raspberries and the like, you need to get the optional berry screen with finer holes. Also, if you do grapes with seeds, the optional shorter spiral auger is needed. If doing minced tomatoes, use the optional salsa screen, and for pumpkin use the optional pumpkin screen as tated, the optional screens are sold in a pack orf three wth the shorter grape spiral. All units can use the same motor unit (with holding brakets), that is also used on pasta rolling machines.

Yes, availability of parts is a good point. I have no idea where I'd get parts for the Omaz. I have a shoulder issue, so after years of hand cranking a Back to Basics strainer, I can no longer do that. The only way I'll be able to do the tomatoes is if I get something electric. I gave the Victorio a try this morning and there wasn't any splashing bu as I've never tried an Omaz, I was curious.

The Villaware (now Roma) strainer, electric model is a bit of overkill, unless your doing a lot, like many bushels at a time. I have the one notch below that, which is the hand crank Villaware, with attachable motor unit. If I only need to do a bushel or less, its done with the hand crank, if its more, I use the motor unit on the end of crank model. The Villaware strainers are about 3 inches in diameter at the larger end, and about 2 inches at the smaller end, with a 5 inch strainer. The Kitchen aid, may not be as useful in a long running mode, but if yours is leaking oil, it may indicate that the bearings are leaking, and its going to need srvice soon. My 25+ year old Oster Kitchen Center started to make loud noises, and it was found to come from the gear mixer head. I opened that, and applied a special silicone based oil (very thick and sticky) to the gear shafts and the noise has not been heard for 3 years now. For me, I prefer to cut the big plum tomatoes in halves or smaller, if they will not fit into the hopper opening of the Villaware. Also, I like to scoop out a lot of the water and seeds, which gives me a MUCH thicker sauce, that requires less cook down time. The Villware, by its larger strainer head design has been able to handel a bushel of toamtoes in less than 10 minutes with the attached motor unit. I do prep the tomatoes beforehand, but cutting in halves, and removing some of the seeds and water.
