How many do you have?

Just how serious is your heuchera habit? I have about 20 varieties plus a few duplicates. I have far to go! Think I'm going to need a bigger garden.

I have about 50-60 varieties of heuchera, heucherella and tiarella... plus one Mukdenia... a cousin.

nomen_numdum - at first, I thought you meant it wasn't allowed to put plants there, like you were forbidden. The only reason I can put plants in the kitchen is that it is fairly open, opening to the eating area, which has 2 windows and a large sliding glass door, mostly western facing, three hooks were in the ceiling when we moved in - that's how I knew the house was perfect, lol! I had left behind a house that I had just convinced my husband to put up 3 hooks for my plants! When we listed the place, I ran out to buy 2 nice ivy plants for the hooks, instead of my lopsided, toddler-attacked plants in mis-matched pots. It looked very nice, and I took the ivy with me, 2 survived. So the kitchen is really the only place for plants, and I'm always in the kitchen, so I see them, they make me happy, I never forget to water, etc. etc. I'll have to count how many individual plants I have and report back. I know I don't need them ALL, I can admire some from a distance, but I have been amassing plants at an alarming rate! Which is a good thing, I think.

4 fatalii 4 carribean red habs 12 thai dragons 2 tabascos 10 purple jals 1 red mushroom pepper So 33, but I gotta get rid of 10 of the thais, I only wanted 2. Also I'm limited to my 2 balconies and they're all in clay pots. So jealous of smokemaster! I'm trying to get the homeowners association to let me grow peppers on my roof. Pepper plants are easier on the eyes than satellite dishes and you can put those up there. I could quadruple my garden! It's big and flat and gets full sun all day. -HabBob

We have a ridiculously large live one every year in our foyer. Ridiculous in that wrangling a live tree that large onto the car and into the stand and into the house is just a special kind of stupid. Sigh. But I can’t, no I WON’T give up doing it. It’s so pretty from both outside and inside that I suffer through the placement and removal days each year. I will say that the Bowling’s Last Stand that we took out a mortgage to buy (lol) a few years ago has almost completely eased my PTSD of a couple of horrific tree fallings in previous years and negated the need for all of the complex fishing wire engineering dh had to fashion before we encountered the wonder of BLS! Here’s this year’s bad boy: (And I have a little lighted table top tree in the study bc it is front facing & also looks good from the street. I am toying with the idea of doing one on the table in the dining room bc it is also a front facing room but, ugh. I made 4 double layer nuzzles with a filter pocket. They are a PIA. They fog up my glasses, hot, reduce breathing and muffled talking. So I made 2 out of a pkg of reusable wipes I had hanging around. Single layer, light, breathable and cooler. I probably will have to make two more cause sometimes I'm out several times a week. Unless visibly dirty I just rotate them.

I never counted. Maybe about 40 different ones but I have a lot of duplicates. So there are about 100 throughout the gardens. I am on 4 acres so there is a lot of filling going on out there. lol

I don't have many - maybe 15 or so and a few cultivars are duplicates. One or two are from a NOID mother that was in the garden when I moved to this house 20 years ago.

I have 76 Heucheras, Heucherella's and Tiarella's....I think I have an addiction problem. I'm glad I decided to start labeling them when I had about 5. Originally, the plan was to only label my Hosta and Echinacea.....I think Astilbe's are next...lol

I hadn't counted before, but I found 18 different varieties, which is surprising, because I've just recently realized how much I love these little cuties! Well on my way to serious problems, here!!

Maybe 15. A small enough number that I didn't think I needed to label the purplish red ones...WRONG.
I'm already confused on which is which. That's one chore I will be figuring out soon when I take some pics.

This prompted me to go out and count my heucheras, I have 147 planted and dozens of off shoots and roots potted to give away. I didn't count how many are repeats but I know there are dozens. I just cant get enough of these babies!

Michelle, I also have some purple ones that I'm not sure what they are, either! (insert red face here). I know which one is Palace Purple, but I don't think they all are. I'm sensing a "Purple NOID" thread coming....

Good question. I lost a few of the new treasures I bought three years when the new baby, my DF's cancer, and the whole house reno took over and I forgot to water. :-( So I must be down to about 70 or so now. I don't generally buy more than one or two of any variety as my theory is that I'll have more room for new intros if I only buy one of each. Oh, addiction. ((sigh))

Some rather serious collectors here - so a great source of information for the rest of us! I hope we're all taking our cameras to the garden...........

I have 46 varieties of heucheras, 6 heucherellas and 5 tiarellas. "Palace Purple' self seeds like crazy, so I use it as a filler everywhere. It even seeded and grew in a crack in a retaining wall.

Wierd, I can post pictures directly from my desktop to the hosta forum but not here, as the CHOOSE button has disappeared.
