101 pepper plants...how many do you have?

Hey folks,

Lots of great information, I learned a ton. Number one, don't put your peppers out too early.

I just counted and I have 101 pepper plants ranging from orange rocottos to mini bell peppers. My seeds were started in january and I rushed to set them out a two weeks before the last frost. though I managed to save most of them, they were severely stunted and are way behind the ones I saved for earth boxes and pots.

I used peppermania for my exotics and terretorial seeds for my mini bell peppers. I was very happy with both places as I had an almost 100% germination rate.

So how many chilis do yall have?

I think around 225 or so. :) This give or take - / + 25.

About 100+ outside and two to three times that easily inside not ready to go out yet.
Should end up with between 300 and 400 plants by the end of the year if things go as planned.I'm growing in 2 shifts.
I've got seeds for between 450 to 500 varieties of hot peppers.
I'm waiting for Murphies law to kick in....

I have about 6 or 7 flats started and mostly doing well. I have 28 tomato plants just put into separate pots (3 varieties: Black Krim, Iidi and Padova). Also, there are 3 flats of coleus, one flat with cuttings from last year's favourites and the other 2 with new seedlings. I'm trying for ones with a lot of yellow in the leaves but not having much luck. But I do have one rather small and weak one with almost completely black leaves. Probably the colour is why it's not growing very fast (not enough chlorophyl),but it seems healthy. I also have lots of baby primulas of 3 kinds. Two sets are in the cold frame as they are from last year, and the others are auriculas from this year. I got the seeds from France and had quite poor germination so I'm watching the plants I did get really closely. For unusuals, I have seedlings of things I collected in parks and nurseries locally. They didn't care if I collected seeds, so I went wild! Now I have red yuccas, pineapple lilies, phormiums, pearly whites (a local wildflower) and eryngium agavafolium.I also have 3 different kinds of penstemons, but while growing, they're very slow and tiny. How many years do pepper seeds usually remain viable?

So according to what ppl are saying here I might be alright with my 2004 seeds I received from u.s. seed bank. I might of not used the best method to save them though. I have them in their original manila envelopes in a pint glass jar but just sitting on a shelf. Was that a bad mistake, the jar on the shelf. What you think, ppl. I best get to sprouting some I suppose.

I love using them in place of bell peppers. I think the flavor is better and they cook quicker too. Since I can't get banana peppers in winter I take my summer stock and clean them then chop them up. Then I spread them on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Once frozen I put them in vaccuum seal bags and store in freezer. I suppose you could just clean seeds out then freeze whole. I also like to use some of em along with other peppers for canning in vinager. Just my 2 cents...Peggy

I have 4 horses...Lonesome, Tue Lo, Gypsy and Missy (or "Mama" as I call her) 2 dogs...beagle cross named Bobby and a schnauzer x dachshund named Zelda Not sure how many cats...Elmo, James, Tommy, Johnson, Cloud, Mancow, Jo Jo, Crooked Letter, Cracker, Budha, Sonny, Pluto, Wildchild, Mary, Flicker, Big Gooney, Dude, Peeweeter, Triped Tockings, Boots, Annie, Gizmo, Zorro, Snip, Figgy, Beauty, Little Beauty, Norman, Pam, Evil Ears, and Bindi. There could be more that I can't think of right now. A white leghorn rooster named Sparky. A white leghorn pullet named Brittney A peking x muscovy duck named Daisy. Possum....Tater, Jerry, Scar Foot, Celest aka Pretty Woman, Hungry Jack, Gretchen, Oprah, and Loser....and another one that isn't named that is just here because she likes her house and the food. Hungry Jack is recovering from a broken leg and will be leaving in about a month. The rest are non releasable for one reason or another. A squirrel...I call him Ass Hat, but I mean it affectionately. :) A feral pig named Piggy Sue and another wild pig that lives here that I call "Baby". I feed many raccoons, but only a few have names. Audrey...haven't seen her for awhile, so I don't know if she is still here. Cancun, who has been here for 13 years, and Puff, a short tailed raccoon...that I think is one of Cancun's children. Some goldfish and a few koi. I think that's all.

About 110 peppers, but I'm probably going to lose a couple to cold damage. Plus I always lose a few to the July storms. I started sowing seed in late October and grew indoors all winter. My Aji Panca is about 3' tall :)

I only have 56 this year...... so far....

I had over 2 dozen die off that were doing well.

I am probably going to buy a few plants, unfortunantly though no greenhouse around me carries any of the plants that died (Trinidads, Black Hungarians, Nagas, etc.)

So 33, but I gotta get rid of 10 of the thais, I only wanted 2. Also I'm limited to my 2 balconies and they're all in clay pots.

So jealous of smokemaster!

I'm trying to get the homeowners association to let me grow peppers on my roof. Pepper plants are easier on the eyes than satellite dishes and you can put those up there. I could quadruple my garden! It's big and flat and gets full sun all day.

Circa 300 varieties, 2 seeds of each kind. But I have a lot that has not germinated yet. I started very late, and the weather here in Portugal is not helping at all :(
I hope I finish with no more than 200 pots or I'll not know where to put them :)

A little over 40 plants and only about 7 varieties. I only have about a square yard of space to put pots... V_V

Plus I'm growing some tomatoes, herbs, and things that take up a bit of space...

I've got roughly 80 plants in the ground this year, with some still in small pots (plan to use these for backup if something happens to the ones in the ground already.......which usually happens..!).
I'm getting a little worried about all the Bhut's that are now in the ground and doing well........guess I'll make lots of very, very Hot sauce!! I was pretty intimidated by Habaneros already.........got a feeling the Bhut's are gonna be way beyond that!!
