Bought my home 6 years ago...keep smelling dank odors coming up from the basement, discovered the drainage from the toilet to the septic was never vented through the floor/walls to the roof. There is a short 5-6inch stack just below the floor, leaving me with only 2 inches there. How to I vent this properly without having a pipe running through an upstairs room or hallway. Looks like no matter where we vent this to our roof, the pipe from the toilet to the septic isn't under any walls or closets to hide it. I wanted to be able to put a vent free propane heater down there if the furnace isn't working in emergencies, and I realized an open flame down there could be dangerous because of the gases coming from the septic and this pipe. How did this pass inspection?! How can I vent this damn pipe out horizontally, safely?

The condensate from the combustion can be quite acidic. Use a separate, dedicated pump to get the condensate out if the system is below grade (in a basement). Just expect to have to replace the small pump occasionally. They're not very expensive. The advantage of the sealed combustion system using outside air is that it won't create a negative pressure in the house causing cold air to be drawn in through the cracks. Also, having the outside air intake lessens the chance of carbon monoxide poisoning if something goes nuts in the system.

I chose frameless cabs with slab wood drawer fronts because I like the cabinet access with frameless and the clean contemporary unfussy look of slab drawers IF they are made out of a beautiful wood. I picked premium QS oak because I found the wood flecking/graining spectacular. We have island seating because we have a tiny house and no formal dining room. So the eating area has a nice table that expands, but we (when it's the two of us) always eat at the island. If you get an island for eating, get super comfy stools. Trash recycling depends on where you live. Here in my town, aluminum, glass, and paper all go into the same bin. Hence, we only have two cans. I, unlike most, did not want to give up cab space for trash so we have a large sink cabinet and I have both cans, my disposal (batch feed BTW which I learned about on this forum) and some cleaning supplies under there. All fits no problem. Appliances: I got top of the line but shopped them off craigslist and ebay. All brand new but it was a risk. For me, the risk paid off. Saved about 6K. Figure out your lighting and switches ahead of time. I would imagine myself cooking in the space and where I would use what small appliances and had my outlets place accordingly. The two outlet ones I had placed horizontally because I knew I was getting glass subway tiles and it would fit within the tile. Flooring: we live in So. Florida, have a yard that holds water, a pool, and 3 little dogs with little bladders. We wanted no maintance and never ever to have to replace the floor. The only choice for us was tile. We got rectified porcelain because I wanted 1/16th grout joints and we used epoxy grout in a darker color because I wanted no maintance. I think that answers a bunch of your questions. Good luck!

Well, Tesla would have been impressed! Lightning strikes that do not produce a direct, or nearby hit of significant force, or induce a surge on incoming AC lines, damage RF equipment via a static discharge that causes junction failure in semiconductors in the front-end. That is why in consumer antenna and satellite installations, a grounding block is (or should be) installed on the incoming coax - more appropriately called a "static discharge block" - to prevent these types of failure. Simple air currents produce static electricity on the antenna or dish, and thunder storms produce a much greater level of static electricity. You may notice that most satellite boxes, such as Dish and DirecTV, also use three prong AC cords, to provide additional grounding to help prevent these type of problems.
