Now Debra, don't laugh but Poop Eye is my favorite of the bunch with 2nd place going to the lovely deep purple one. Deffinately go save Poop Eye from the compost pile and plant it somewhere where it can show off.

Kay - I appreciate your feedback. I was thinking the brown one needed a "chocolate" name.

Brown is IN! I've got one seedling that really leans to a tan with brown veining and I found myself liking it. Since I'm a orange, red and anything bright and full of life, I found it kinda funny that I liked a "Tan" daylily. If the plant is that hardy, I'd have to save it. It might not be my favorite, but I read about bridge plants to good things. This could be one.

I've loved Evening Enchantment for 10 years and still love it. So that baby is one of my favorites. I am curious, is EE the momma??I can not get it to set a pod for nothing!

Mona - Yes, Evening Enchantment is the momma of my purple seedling. It sets seed very easily here, but I have it planted in part shade. Evening Enchantment is a really great purple!

Poop eye! LOL! I agree with those who have suggested to give it a chocolate name. Then people will like it for being different. Or maybe a coffee name. Something like that. When I was on the garden tour last weekend, I took a picture of MILK CHOCOLATE, not so much because I liked it, but because it was intriguing.

I think both of the top 2 seedlings are gorgeous.

I love the first two and I know there are people who like brown and that kind of bud count and performance should appeal to anyone so it could make a good bridge plant. How many years did you give it before you dug it up?

Nate - That really wasn't the best photo. After all it was lying on the ground. It does have rebloom scapes, so I should be able to get a better photo of the blooms in the coming weeks.

Val - Poop Eye has been growing for three years. I was too lazy to dig it out, until it grew tall like a beanstalk this year and was blocking the sun from my good plants. It is NOT a miniature like the parents. I won't be using this one as a bridge plant. I could stand to look at very many brown seedlings. But I thought there are people out there who collect the browns and might want it. It will be planted where I don't have to look at it very often.

My absolute fave is the "brown" one, but what I see is a lustrous copper with a deep rust eye. I think it could be a valuable landscape plant. I find your garden name is most amusing but it might turn off some folks. Then there's "Copper Thief" and "Copper Pennies." You should move it and give it a place of honor! Or you could plant it in a big turquoise pot, and surround it with some small yellow-flowering plants.

Debra the habits of "Poop Eye" sounds like Milk chocolate. My Milk Chocolate is about 3 feet but grown in shade. I moved it out to full sun because the garden where I recieved it the scapes are well over 5 ft tall.

The Ugly brown grows on you. I also grow Cimmaron Knight which is a coppery brown color. I will probably never use them for hybridizing but they will always have a place in my yard because of the unusual color.

I don't think ppl will buy "Poop Eye" with that name though lol. Maybe Mocha Latte.

I'm not into brown daylilies myself, but with that kind of performance, it deserves to live! My favorite is the 2nd seedling. Seems like all have a great bud count.

Well Debra, the Poop Eye seedling is a fun topic for discussion. I think Nancy is on the right track, it could have really good landscape value if planted with carefully chosen companion plants. Nancy sees it with yellow in a turquoise pot. I see it planted en masse with stark white flowers (vinca, cleome,even shasta daisies, dusty miller or artemesia, white profusiion zinnias) plus some companion flowers with green in them. I think Poop Eye is a fine name. If they can have one called Crotchless Panties, who would object to Poop Eye?

Debra: You made me spit out my tea when reading the garden name you gave that daylily.LOL. I also like browns in the mix and would probably plant it like I do with BROWN WITCH. But my favorite of the group is the EVENING ENCHANTMENT X GILDED KNIGHT seedling. I love green eyes and that one is very striking.
