How do you root Jatropha cuttings?

My friend down the street gave me a cutting of her new Jatropha, but neither of us knows how to root it. One website says that Jatropha is actually a succulent (even though it does not look like one) and it should be left to dry and harden before putting in soil. However, there are so many different kinds of Jatropha, I'm not sure it applies to my cutting. This is the kind that blooms red flowers in the spring and summer.
