Photos of Daylilies on July 5th

Hi all. It's been forever since I've posted on the forum. I'm working on a neat project and hope all of you will participate.

I'm trying to get two pictures from everyone all over the world who have daylilies blooming on the 5th of July. They can be closeups, clump shots, or general garden shots. I am attempting to show daylilies within a 24 hour period from across the country/world. The submissions will be set to music and be available to clubs and organizations as well as on youtube. So make sure your lens is clean and you have fresh batteries in the camera. Credit will be given to the photographer, and by making the submission gives permission to Charles Dorsey to use your images in ONE video. They can be taken in yours or another's garden on July 5th.

Please use the following in making your submissions:

1. Limit your submission to TWO pictures.

2. The submission should be as attachments in an email to this email address daylilyroundrobin@yahoo.com

3. Submissions should be high resolution JPG images (size up to 2 megs)

3. Rename each submission as follows:

State City Your Name Cultivar

An example of renaming the image would be something like... I live in Albany Ohio so I would change the name from HP1293.jpg to OHAlbanyCharlesDorseyTwoPartHarmony.jpg

If it is renamed in this order (State City Your Name Cultivar), it will be much easier for me to sort them.

Depending on the volume of submissions, I may not be able to respond to emails individually. If I can't I will do it through the forum.

Oh there will be a link. I hope that this project will recruit a bunch of daylily addicts.

If the color on Plant it Back (really?) is wine, it has a lot of potential. It doesn't look like a muddy color. Polys are definitely "in." I like the white pineapple lily. The container really shows the little variegated plant better on larger size, and that plant (polka dot?) is great with the dark colors.

Thank You, WONDER OF IT ALL has been a bloom machine for me. It has had 123 blooms this season,and deserves a rest period, even if I DO wish it would bloom year round.:))Its in a pot and fast filling this 14inch pot.I will probably need to find a bigger pot for it by this fall,as I intend to keep it in a pot with potting soil.Since it seems to love its home.It will just need a bigger home.:)I do have hundreds of pictures of it to look at this winter when we have nothing blooming. I have even saved a bunch of your pictures of your beauties, too, to look at during the winter. Jean

I'm still getting some rebloom so I'll try to get a couple of good photos to send to Charles. Sounds like it'll be a beautiful video.

Thanks Jan. There had to be date compromises to allow the greatest amount of people to contribute. While your blooms in the south are winding down quickly, the north is just starting. Hopefully we can get enough participation for a decent video.

Charles I just wanted to caution you that if the naming gets too long you will have problems with truncating the file name (the operating system will cut off parts of the name) and this sometimes causes trouble with opening and saving the file.

Cool idea!

Love your COOL ideas Charlie, unfortunately the deer have pretty much wiped out my bloom season here in Northwest Arkansas! Still waiting to see what you have produced out of PINK STRIPES!

Man, I wish the date were 7/1 - awesome blooms that day. But today... almost zilch. I'll take a quick peak at the pics and see if there is anything worth while... but it has been soooo hot - everything is really washed out. Grrr...

Michelle - That is a really pretty shot of Heaven's Declaring. It stormed here last night and this morning, so that let out a lot of the gold edged ones. They were too splotchy. Here's what I sent Charles:

Debra those are AWESOME photos!! I just love CLAUDINE'S CHARM anyway... but great photo!! Mine are just all washed out... it was a really poor day in the garden. Too bad, I have such nice ones reblooming too! Bummer

Oh Nancy I feel for you. The deer did a number on our beds until I put up the electric fence. As for PINK STRIPES. I have a few hundred crosses that will (cross your fingers) bloom for the 1st time next year. This includes maybe 30 plants of PINK STRIPES X DASH IT (Ellie's daylily). Can't wait.

The submissions are rolling in. Thanks to all of you. If you still need to send in your submissions, please use the following:

Michelle - I really like the shot of PURL. It's a daylily I haven't seen a lot. You have nice, dark backgrounds on both photos.

Charles: Sounds like it will be a great project. Can't wait to view it.

If your putting this out on the web, how are you avoiding anyone pirating the photos for their personal use(ie resell market) when many folks submit photos without their watermarks?

Sorry Charlie, nothing from me!! I had lots of blooms but unfortunatley ( fortunately ) we had about 5 hours of much needed rain on them so they were pretty drenched.. I'll still look forward to seeing the video, though...Ellie

The images you guys have sent are great. The video should be worthy of you photographic talents if I can do my part. I'll let you know when and where the video can be viewed, but don't hold your breath. It should be sometime in August. I'm heading into the wild blue yonder for a while.

Juliany unfortunately anything can be copied from any media if you have the right software.

Any image that was sent to me with a watermark, caption, etc will not be used. That would spoil the beauty of the image and video. If you sent an image with the above and want it included in the video, you should resend the pictures without them. I do not have time to remove them, and yes they can be removed (hidden).

If you deadhead your garden, are you a Greatful Dead fan?
