One of the great things about hosta (once they're in the ground as opposed to your sunporch) is that they are carefree. Most of us on this forum spend hours and hours in our hosta gardens, but we don't have to. Those wonderful plants thrive on neglect. So if you're only able to weed an hour or two a month for the next few years, they'll just settle in and grow (ah, that your daughters were that easy to raise!). And about the time that your daughters are teens, you'll have the most amazing hosta garden in the neighborhood. Nance

Socks, I kinda had no choice. Feb. 10th I had a bad heart attack. The Dr. told my family 4 out of 5 people that have one that bad, don't survive. I had 100% blockage in one artery, and 90% in the other. Wake up call. I was in the hostital a week, ICU for 4 days. I had no choice to stop. I was scared to go home cause I was afraid I'd start again. But I guess after a week in hosp. the REALLY BAD urge was gone. Now, 4 months later, I still get a craving, but it passes. I just tell myself, I've gone this long, I can do this.

I'm not an MD or a Vet and have never played one on TV (or radio), but...don't people diagnosed with Lyme take antibiotics for *many* months??? Not necessarily. It depends on a number of things, including the duration of the illness and the number (and identity) of any co-infections. It's very hard to say if an individual is getting proper treatment. As for me, I could pinpoint the day my symptoms started (before I found the tick), and I thought, based on my reading, that there was a good chance the bacteria could be knocked out by a month of doxy on top of the 10 days of amoxicillin the doctor had already prescribed. So far so good, although I'm still nervous about the whole thing. If any symptoms come back, I'll have to resort to seeing an LLMD (Lyme-Literate MD). I would not look forward to that. There are no LLMDs in my area, so I'd have to travel--and probably pay quite a bit if s/he doesn't take Medicare.

After wearing a modified mullet (short on top, down to my behind in back) for a lot of years, my daughter convinced me to get a new style. I loved what the designer did, but the $60 price tag is more than I can justify every six weeks. So I armed myself with a photo of my new cut and six weeks later took it to a less expensive salon. In addition to showing her the photo I took care to explain it as well. She assured me she understood exactly what I was talking about, then proceeded to give me an entirely different style. Tears? You bet! But still, I went back to her again and again, telling her each time how to make it more closely resemble my previous style, and eventually it was very close. I thought we had come to an understanding and then the next time she cut my hair it was a whack job again! I've had the flowbee for many years and used it to cut my husband's and grandchildren's hair, so I began to use it on myself, too. It did alright, but not the style I wanted. It has been more than 2 months since my last haircut and I just didn't know which way to go. In a moment of desperation I drove down to the little shop that my 81 year old mother goes to. I asked for the owner (she cuts Mom's hair and is in her late 60's). I had printed out my photo to show her, but in my haste, had forgotten to bring it with me. I proceeded to explain my style and she said she knew exactly what I meant. I knew I was going to drive home in tears, but I just couldn't get up and leave. And guess what? When she was done I WAS nearly in tears! I couldn't believe my eyes. It was exactly the style I verbalized to her. Bless you, little old Lina!
