Two Pastels

My last daylily to bloom here is always Blossom Queen, and that held true this year (with Gangster of Love in the background):

This is my "preview" bloom from Curt Hanson's Chateau Belair, planted this spring:

Schreiner's only sells two that give the effect of a pastel yellow without a funny gold, green, or tan cast. They are both amoenas, 'Sofia' and 'Overjoyed.' Both are spectacularly beautiful irises. 'Buckwheat' is a bit greenish-tan, not a true pastel yellow. My favorite yellow iris is Total Recall, because it is a non-stop rebloomer. It is very pale, but it always looks yellow to me. cleaning cloth napkins, including pastel colors

I have lots and lots of napkins and tablecloths. I even use them outside at our teak patio table, because they don't blow away like paper does. Don't have a problem cleaning them. Use stain remover and soak ASAP, just wash next morning. My problem is identifying which tablecloth goes to the dining room table when its closed, and when its open. Which goes to the game room round table. Which goes to the teak outside table which opens up bigger. I have tried an index by color inside the cabinet door , and have tried safety pinning a little note on with the dimensions, but nothing is reliable. If I was starting now, I would have one color for each table (like I do with sheets for different size beds) but its too late now.Any ideas?

Technique/pattern for Mary Maxim Peaceful Pastels Baby Afghan

The Peaceful Pastels Afghan is basically the same as the one at AngelCrafts. The PP afghan is made using 2 strands throughout as stated above and using a crochet hook size K-10 1/2 US (Canadian size 2, Metric size 7mm). The yarn requirements to make an afghan 50" diameter (total of 27 rows beginning with 3 rows of white then 2 rows of each yarn combination) are Bernat Baby Coordinates White 50 yards Yellow 1 skein Peach 1 skein Pink 1 skein Purple 1 skein Blue 2 skeins Green 1 skein Round 7 uses a "small shell". Rounds 8 and 9 use "large shells". This is done to keep the afghan flat and keep the yarn requirements.

Thanks all! Lisa, 24 hours later Alnwick Rose is starting to look a little wan and withery .. it hasn't shattered because there is no room for it to shatter, being pressed against the bowl on one hand and Carding Mill on the other. I would eat ice cream every day if I could, but since that would be unwise ... I grow tempting roses instead! :-)

I like both daylilies but the grouping in the first picture with the blue flower and Gangster in Love in the background as well as the raindrops on the daylily looks so fresh and cool on a hot dry summer day. Very nice.....Maryl

Is the pic of Chateau true to color? Curt describes it as lilac chiffon; it looks pink to me in the pic.

Thank you and, yes, we finally got a little rain overnight. A little too late for the bloom season, but welcome nevertheless.

Mantis, the photo was taken in bright morning sun, so it looks a little washed out. I guess it's a cross between lavender and pink. Let's call it lavender chiffon.

Blossom Queen is very striking. We didn't get thunderstorms yesterday as they warned but today, we had showers which they didn't predict. I think the meteorologists on our local station need to go back to school for a refresher course.

These are beautiful--love those edge--no eye daylilies. Chateau does show up pale lilac to me. What is the purple plant on the fence, looks very interesting. Avedon

Thanks again! Blossom Queen is always welcome when it blooms so late in the season.

Avedon, the purple plant is ordinary garden phlox, but I don't remember the variety. This one didn't develop the mildew that hit so many of the phlox earlier this year.
