I hope so, xedos. This was definitely a first-world issue, no question, but ouch. We had many issues with the cabinet designer. But back in 2003 when the kitchen was planned there were basically 2 high end built in options -- SZ and Viking. Also Monogram. My cabinet dimensions were standard for both at the time. Cannot fault the fit on this really. Instructions said a 25" cabinet would allow it to fit flush. But having seen the design of the frame, which is about 36-1/4 or so to cover the cut out, I don't see how that would work.What's interesting is that the Miele door is much slimmer than the SZ. It doesn't protrude as much. And having the grill hidden on the bottom makes a difference in the look -- at least for me. It's very neat. I spoke to the dealer about the water filter. When the time comes, I spend $60 on a bypass. End of story. We have a very good water filter on our well pump so it's not needed on the fridge.

jane, it sounds like there was some misinformation and misunderstandings on the part of the reporters whose radio piece you're describing. The largest retailers reflect the major market forces, are the ones to look at, are the major buyers of consumer goods and goods from abroad. Three of the biggest, Walmart, Amazon, and Costco, have all had sales increases during the pandemic period. None have closed, none have stopped ordering from suppliers. Inventory reordering at most retailers, including grocery chains, is autoMATED.. New orders are based on stock on hand and projected sales to determine needs. Nothing new about that, in the pre-automated supply chain days, orders were done with pencil and paper and mental guesswork. For large supply contracts, customers typically give future quarterly or longer buying projections for orders and can only vary actual orders by an agreed percentage. In many sectors, shipping delays more significantly affect the sellers (other than the buyers being short of goods to sell) because oftentimes payment for purchases isn't due until delivery. So it's often the foreign suppliers who are bearing the financial burden of the undelivered products. They've bought their raw materials, paid for production, but have to wait to be paid. It is true that a variety of compounding problems have caused supply delays, and it's not just delays of fridges, toaster ovens and flip flops. I've tried in this thread to present balanced and factual views. The US supply system has proven to be inflexible, inadequate, and with bottlenecks of unexpected kinds in unexpected places. Paradoxically, despite all the delays and waiting ships, port cargo processing stats are up considerably from past years.

If you do a Google search regarding the difference in shoe widths, you'll find information like this: 1. When measured at the ball of the foot, the difference between shoe widths is approximately ¼". A wide width is ¼" wider than a medium width and an extra wide is ½" wider than a medium width. 2. There is approximately a 1/6" difference in length between each half-size (e.g., between 9 and 9.5, between a 9.5 and 10, and so on). For every half size up, the width (across the ball) will increase by 1/8". One measurement that I have found helpful when converting shoe sizes between genders is the length of the shoe, like what's shown in this chart (far right-hand column in each gender):
