bagsmom, thank you for the nice compliments on my hydrangeas...what a coincidence that we have the same lily and hydrangea. Great minds think alike!!ha As for the name of the big hydrangea, I think it may be Nikko Blue, but am not 100% certain of the name. I have had that hydrangea for several years. I have moved 3 times and each time, that hydrangea has been dug up and taken with me..When I first moved to my present home 3 years ago, there was not one decent plant in the yard. love the yard....I don't add anything to my hydrangeas, but just let Mother Nature take its course...I do miracle gro them in the early spring and periodically during the summer... this has been a great year for hydrangeas... I loved everyone's pictures..

Grannyjojo, Thanks for sharing your info with us. Your son-in-law's words frighten me but in this case, I think it is good to be scared, if you know what I mean. I do want to empahsize that on a day like today, especially if you are in the area with the 'high' risk, the only truly safe shelter is an in-ground tornado shelter or a safe room. This is not one of those days to seek shelter in the bathtub with a pillow or mattress over your head, unless it is your only option. My dad and brother both survived tornadoes, and I've seen a couple in the air but never been in a building hit by one. I hope that's an experience I never have. We keep supplies in our tornado shelter year-round, including a change of clothing and shoes for each person, beach towels and folding chairs, and a Rubbermaid tote full of flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, candles, matches, bottled water, trail mix, etc. We tote our important papers and medicines out to it as well when conditions warrant. We always take our VFD fire radios so we can listen to storm spotters and emergency personnel. Usually my DH and DS are out storm spotting while I am down in the hidey hole alone. We just put in a tornado siren at our local volunteer fire station (actually, our local electrical co-op very kindly installed it for us) which gives us one more way to help keep our local citizens informed. I'll tell you what really scares me---when we drive into town and encounter all kinds of storm chasers gathering in town and plotting out their strategies in terms of which roads they will take and where they will position themselves to chase the storms. When I see that they are here, I have a strong urge to run home and get into the shelter even before a warning is issued. The last time we actually had storm chasers on our road, a tornado crossed the Red River near us, touching down right at the river in an unpopulated area (flood plain). That's as close as I ever want to be to a tornado. Dawn

As far as i can tell from the buckets ive set out, my rain guages got broken during last weeks hail, we have already received over 6" of rain wednesday and thursday here North of Owasso. The tornados in Broken Arow last night were just a few miles from my husbands daughters house. I know the ground is beyond saturated. My sprinkler system for my aerobic system went off twice for 30 minutes each time yesterday. Thats a lot of water. When it goes of normally because it has hit the float on the tank, it usually only runs for 10-15 minutes. Its going to be another round of fun tonight so hang on to your hats and cover those plants! Thank you Debra and Julia, Blue Throated Hummer is brand new, only planted early May. Hard to tell about bud count, only 8 buds on this scape. I have high hopes for it though. Got it as single fan and already has formed new fan. Kay, Memory of Morning had a rough start in life, but I am very pleased with how it is doing right now. Last spring I had a single fan, this spring it is 3 fans, 4 scapes. One of those iffy hybridizers that I usually avoid, but it seems to be shaping up, keep your fingers crossed for me it keeps up. Kate and Laura, I may like Fern stone's baby better than Fern Stone. Fern is doing better but not many buds. Usually it does rebloom, so that may save it. and the fact that it is so early. At least usually it is, LOL. Sherry, I am not sure, I think that is one of 3 I rescued from the clearance plant rack that had no tag. This is in its 3rd year I think, and if I remember, it does bloom longer than my others.I don't collect clematis like I do daylilies, so does not bother me if I don't know names of them. When they are $1 or $2 on clearance racks and make a show like this I am pleased! I do want a double white variety, not sure why, but they look so pretty in pictures. Never have any locally, one of these days I guess I will go on line and find one. Dropped my phone in my garden cart, with water, no longer have a phone. Since that is how I access this site, until I get a new phone, hopefuly in a few days, I probably ;will not be back on this site. I hate being without a phone!
