A few from yesterday and today

I had to be away from computer almost all day yesterday.. And today we had a little rain, nothing special, barely wet the bottom of the rain gauge, but created a steam bath.

It also has been so hot that many daylilies got paler, and lily buds cook before they even open

So here are some of the reds from yesterday

PS. Sometimes it seems to me that I am the worst enemy of my daylilies, I was deadheading and broke 2 branches.. on Super Mama and Soul on Fire. Branches with just a few buds, but still..

Oh and I saw daylily plates in a store the other day! They had some blue flowers and yellow daylily flower on them. That would be SO nice to have a set of those, but at 8 bucks a piece, it was a bit too much for me.. Maybe I'll get just one ;)

All very nice. Not much you can do about the weather as we have no control so just go with it and remember, next year it will be better (positive thinking).
ELEGANT CANDY looks so feminine and such a pretty eye and pink color. Very nice clump shot of it.

I think your red NOID is my favorite of these. It's too bad you don't know what it is. The Elegant Candy clump looks so pretty with the raindrops.

Well, I've posted today's and I need to answer yesterday's Thanks Avedon...you and I are both going to be a little busier now with the bloom season beginning. Ellie, Fernstone is one of those treasures...beautiful red. Jean, you know Citrix is always one of my best ones. Debra, it is a really good one, I'm glad I got it on the auction. Linda, Bob Watson usually does well, so I'm glad it is improved. Marric, I got it from Marietta Gardens...sometimes, as with Pink Gingham, they quit offering excellent plants...a room issue, I suspect. Brittie, they are both pretty good plants, thanks you. kay

Prince Of Midnight is a stunner with that dark coloring and the almost white watermark. And I just love, love Bold Symphony too. That pink color is great and I think the midribs just fancy it up even more. Its warm today here too, much more so than lately. Still not as bad as some parts of the country. Guess its really summer so I shouldn't complain.

I have to choose Silent Sentry since I also have this. It did superb for me this year and the color varied from light to dark purple depending on how hot or cool it was. When the weather cooled, it was such a gorgeous purple. That certainly is a nice looking FFO on Light Motif. A lot of them don't look that good. Vickie

Highland Pinched Finger, new this year. It was a stand-out in a local garden last year Indian Giver clump Joan Senior, more recurved than usual Rob Cobb is good and tall in the back row. Sugar Magnolia. Debra, it has finally hit its stride. You can't tell from this picture, but it is nice and tall. From my window I could clearly make it out among all the others. Santorini Sunset. Can't recall if I posted it. Tried and failed many times on Tuesday. Too short. This is a photo using my telephoto lens through the window. You can see Sugar Magnolia standing out. Castle Pinkney is the other tall one on the left. Egyptian Ibis looking good Fully Grown more purple than usual. That's all for now. Much better posting experience than Tuesday.

The NO ID picture is so pretty I have to choose it as my favorite. Also really, really loving CAT DANCER and BOMBAY SILK.

Thank you everybody!

They issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area.. It's heat and humidity together. No sign of cooling down according to the forecast I saw today.
I wish I knew the name of my noid, all noids in fact. The midrib on that red one is not so visible, camera picks it up.
And, I couldn't resist and got the plate ;) I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Your daylilies are looking beautiful. I love them all, especially Elegant Candy. How long does Elegant Candy usually bloom? I am thinking of adding it to my garden.

Your noid and Soul on Fire are my picks. I wish Soul on Fire did that well here. It'a a beautiful red, but mine is always splotchy.

Such a pretty group of plants! Beautiful shots of them too! Elegant Candy looks lovely in its clump as does your red NOID. That is a gorgeous shot of Bombay silk. I like the big drama of ruby spider, but Soul on Fire is just stunning and it is my pick.

IsabelleMaye, I am sorry I don't know how long Elegant Candy blooms. It has a decent bud count this year and opens many flowers every day now, so I guess it will bloom out soon.

Chris, Soul on Fire is actually one of the best flowers this year; it has minor spots sometimes and Japanese beetles love it, but mostly clear, unlike some of the purples, especially Tower of Babel, I probably have only a couple decent pictures of it :(

I love RUBY SPIDER, always have & always will, even when fancier daylilies come along. I like your red No ID too and I also have a red No ID that I've had for years and it is one of my best bloomers. As usual, your daylilies are ahead of mine. My American Freedom, Cat Dancer and Siloam Show Girl have buds but none have opened yet. I also like that Yellow Titan. I have a special place in my heart for the really BIG blooms and it looks great.
