The ones that are coming up are all green, then again they all were til they got older. Neat!

Out of the 8 I planted, all died but two, which are in a pot, and which we brought inside over the winter, so they didn't freeze. They look just like they did all last year...2' tall and mostly red. Spindly. Lank. Unhappy. Not thriving. They don't like it here in the cold north, Katkin. You and Treefrog have all the good ones!

Mine did not survive the winter. Evelyn's backyard is very protected so her's might have done OK. She has great success with 'naners.

Even my well established bananas and plantains were hit pretty hard but the ele ele, rhinohorn and mysore have all come back and are doing great.

Hmmm, no, mine have been red and green comming out of the ground except for this one. But this all green is a cool color. :o)

Kate and Marcia, sorry you didn't have better luck with the Siam's. Marcia, is yours getting enough water?
My guess is that this plant is unstable and reverts back with ease. I am looking to see if either of them produce edible fruit. Some say no fruit, others say it will fruit, but it's not edible, so we'll see. They are really pretty.

I handwatered mine for months and months, every single day, Katkin. The ones in the ground just plain died, without growing an INCH. The ones in the big pots grew to about 2 feet, each have about 3 leaves, and that's that. And they would have died over the winter, for sure, if I hadn't brought them in. This isn't a very hardy banana, I'm guessing.

I don't have a lot of luck with bananas, but I HAVE had some that did well. This wasn't one of them. My red & green "variegated" ornamental one (some musa or other) did much better.

Katkin. I have one that's lime green too.
It didn't grow much last year, (in the ground) but it has pups.
The red one has three pups now, but the big one didn't survive winter here. They look bad.
No Marcia, mine aren't doing much better than yours.
I think I'll put a pup into a big pot as an ornamental summer plant, and the lime green one too.
Maybe we should have left the Siam Ruby's in Siam.
Oh well, I'm still having fun with 'em.

I have 3. The 2 down by the dock stayed small yet. The third I have planted by the pool cage and it grew as tall a me, so 5' and something. But the cold got it too and it died but it had several pups nearly that big and they are still ok. Suddenly this lime green on showed up. And I thought the color outstanding. I transplanted it and hope it makes it now that it is so dry.

David, remember the one that had half the leaf red and half green, well I have one of those too now. lol I think I'll wait till we start getting some rain to move it.
