Love your trellis setup! Beautiful cucs and your 2nd pic is just so lush and gorgeous! Bad and ugly are just well bad and ugly!! When did you plant those cucs?

Nice pictures Amber, it's getting warm now so we'll definitely have a fight on our hands....I was running a month late on everything, picked my first outside cukes yesterday, Spacemaster 80s. Cukes seem to grow better in direct sun but I've got three varieties of parthenocarpic cukes growing in buckets inside the pool cage, this may be the way I go in the future because I can spray them with spinosad without concern for the bees...we'll see how it goes.

Really nice how you modified the trellis on the two earthboxes to make an arbor. That shows very good 'outside the box' thinking.

Jo- I planted the cucumbers around early to mid February. It was a little cold so the first batch struggled and I replaced them with these. I think I figured out the best thing to do is start really early and keep replacing them until they take. Seeds are cheap.

tinael01-I don't think it is nematodes because they are in containers. Once I did have nematodes in a container of okra that was sitting on pavers. Nematodes sure love okra. Today the curly tomatoes have somewhat improved, so I have hope that it is not some dreaded virus.

The tall purple flower in the second picture is larkspur. It grew from seed. I was shocked it turned out so well. I think you never know what will do well here until you try.

Tom-I used parthenocarpic cukes too. This is my first year trying them. It is much easier for me because I hate to waste time waiting for the female flowers.

Very nice looking set up and it is working very well for you. Love the color on those flowers and good to see that you are getting fruits.

Sometimes the tomato leaves curled when they are under stressed or are too wet, and with the rains that we had lately we all had a problem.

I am like Sherlock Holmes. I think I have maybe solved the curly leaf problem. I put my hand on the containers this afternoon and they were very hot to the touch. I am going to look for something to shade the containers.

I'm a newbie to the gardening scene and a definite newbie to this forum, but I started growing tomatoes this year and also had a problem with armyworms. I bought Ortho Flower, Fruit, and Vegetable spray and it worked wonders. Again, I'm a newbie so I'm not really sure if that was the right thing to do, but it worked for me!
