Gardenpoppy, Just shipped out my box today priority and put the same inside. I sent daffodil bulbs, white calla lily bulbs, pink tulips, orange Wyoming canna, and misc cannas that could be red yellow or orange. (I forget what color they were) My biggest want for this swap would be to have pink cannas, not salmon but pretty pink with green leaves. I would give away all of my orange ones for pink!!! And of course the usual-love to have asiatic, oriental lilies, alliums-love them too, etc... anything pink, purple or white. This has been fun, next year will be better because I will have more stuff to swap. Thanks again for hosting!!! jenny.

Hey, squirrelly! I will go ahead pot up the guara and salvias for you. I would love to just bring them to you, and meet your garden helpers. Can i just come and see your daylilies when they are peaking. i would really love any of them, they are so beautiful, I do like the darker ones, too. The one plant you can dig up and divide when they are blooming, and they dont suffer. I also have been to a daylily farm in SC around Columbia, went crazy. I have some of mine on my fb page, you might want some. I did not see any red in your colllection, I do have a huge red one with a yellow throat. I'll still take the other plants if you stil have them ready. I have mexican petunia. Ruellia purple showers, we are going to dig them up and keep them in pots, i found out they can be invasive, so I hope I ge it all. My husband will be doing the digging for me, you might want some of it, they are great for the tall plant in big pots. Let me know, Lorinda

What Lisa advised is correct. When I sell heliconia rhizomes, I remove ****all**** the root material and force the rhizome to fully resprout and reroot with its new owner. This is how I received all of my rhizomes over the last 15 years. Its really best for the plants. This method makes the plants start from scratch, manufacturing a tolally new support system for themselves. As long the bulk of your rhizome is firm hard plant tissue, you will get new rooting and growth quickly if you treat it right. As to the potential "mislabelling", that happens to all of us. Different plants are called different things in diffrent locales, different marketers use different names for plants, etc. I actually do NOT believe that a "dwarf" Rostrata exists. I grew many heliconia in containers for many years before I got my greenhouse that allowed me to plant them all in the ground under protection. You know what I found out? The Berry and Kress book, then considered the "bible" of heliconia, was WRONG. Parameters they gave for plant characteristics, light tolerance, height, etc were NOT uniformly TRUE!!!! I had several cultivars grow to proportions hugely above their parameters when grown in a greenhouse under optimal conditions. So much so, I have had to remove them. No heliconia I know will survive here outside in the ground in zone 8B. ALL are greenhouse dependent here.
