Forbidden Fantasy is my favorite, and I like all your yellows! For some reason I like 'dancer' in the names of DLs and Garden Dancer is a pretty one! And I love that picture of Sweet Summer Heat and Hot Cakes!

Speaking of summer heat, I'd rather take yesterday's super hot day, at least for the morning so I can go look, it's pouring since 8am here.

Thanks for the info on Fear Not, I was contemplating buying it (not from hybridizer). Actually I like how it looks in your picture.

Just curious, are you sure your Apricot Sparkles is something else? I have the same one - looks just like yours and same name. I got mine via Parks Wholesale several years ago and really like it. It is planted in front of Sir Modred, a tall deep red with a gold throat. The contrast is nice. What do you suppose it might be, if not Apricot Sparkles? And what does the real AS look like?

Just so you know, although it is a pretty bloom, it isn't what I was after either...here is my Fear Not:

Same bitone. Rita has posted gorgeous photos of hers that looks like Karol's website. I bought mine from Karol (I double checked to make sure it didn't come from the auction), so don't know why the difference. I suppose it could be the extreme heat we've had this year.

I will keep it, since I do like bitones, I've heard Karol uses some of Salters daylilies in her breeding, so wonder if it is a regression.

Wow, Kay, they do look very similar. I had no idea a daylily could be a bi-tone one year and not in others. The bigger problem I've had with the daylily isn't its looks, it's the performance. Perhaps a move is in order.

Judy, it does look like Malaysian Marketplace, which I also grow, but I like MM better -- the red is much more vibrant on that one.

nat and KCC, you should take a look at the photo of Garden Dancer on Tinker's website. The woman who took that photo always takes amazing pictures, but I've drooled over that photo in particular. I think it's a keeper. KCC, I'm guessing mine isn't Apricot Sparkles just because the registration info doesn't match up: AS is listed as 4" with 18" scapes, and mine is probably 2-1/2 to 3", with very tall scapes (at least 28-30"). It's not a fluke this year, because it has always been than tall. How do the measurements on yours compare?

Wonderful pictures--and not just a face but a framing background. What is the purple behind Greywoods Lofty Lizzy? Looks a bit like Nile Plum. Your apricot Noid certainly is loaded with buds. Apricot Sparkles is a quite small bloom; three inches is about right.

Thanks, mantis. The two purples behind GLL are both Munsons: Pharaoh's Treasure (left) and Merry Prince (top). Both are fairly new to the garden and Pharaoh's Treasure in particular has been impressive in the amount of blooms it's had.

Your photography is beautiful. I found myself admiring the photos and almost forgot about the daylilies. The lush green background sets the lilies off so nicely. Do you ever post fowerbed shots? OH yes, a favorite.... my favorite photo is the one with LOFTY LIZZIE in the foreground.

Thanks, Christine -- I keep meaning to take some photos of the whole bed, but the sun has been so bright every morning they haven't turned out. Hopefully one of these days the weather will cooperate and I'll be up early enough to do it.

Chris, mine is a little taller than the standard, maybe 18 inches with 24 inch scapes, but I find height in daylilies to be variable or at least not consistant across locations. Several DLs I purchased at Melanie Mason's place were much shorter at her place than a year later in my garden. She's a zone colder than me, though I don't know if that matters. The flowers look right and I go by that more than size.

GREYWOODS LOFTY LIZZIE is a really dramatic garden presence. You will like that one! Slow to increase here, but tall and oh so golden-yellow. Shows its teeth, too.

Spent the morning (in this heat!) at the nearby AHS display garden. Needed to get my order decided, for one thing. Had to see what new things were blooming, too, of course. The garden has about 2000 cultivars, and this year's price list has over 1000....there is TONS of stuff available still for sale. But SWEET SUMMER HEAT was one of a small number that was sold out. The clump was blooming its head off this a.m., and it sure was eye-catching. I can see why so many people were attracted to it.

I like the bitone look of Fear Not, but you probably knew I would. My favorite is Garden Dancer. I think it's already begun to dance a bit.

I really like SWEET SUMMER HEAT. It looks alot like INCA PRINCE. Do you think they are very similar. Trying to avoid look-a-likes.
The pic I like is SELF DETERMINATION with FRIEDA ALLEN JERRELL. I need to go look that one up FRIEDA, you know I love CONCRETE BLONDE. Makes me smile! GARDEN DANCER looks to be a winner.

Judy, I ordered Garden Dancer from Iron Gate Gardens (the hybridizer) a few years ago. Last year, I broke off the only scape and didn't see it bloom.

Lynxe, I couldn't help but notice the bright color of GLL when I went outside this morning. There's yellow, there's golden yellow, and then there's brilliant GLL yellow. The baby teeth were a nice surprise, too.

Debra, I like bi-tones, too, but I really wanted the bright tomato red of the Fear Not I'd seen pictured. In any event, I probably won't keep it because it hasn't performed well enough here.

Julia, I grow both, and while they're similar, Inca Prince is a bit brighter here. I think mine has a little more yellow instead of the blended orange of SSH.

Garden Dancer is just beautiful! (yes, I know I'm late to the party lol) Bummer that Fear Not isn't such a great performer, since it's a fantastic color!
I have Apricot Sparkles, and it doesn't have frilly edges like yours. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

I like all of them, but my favorites are Garden Dancer and Greywoods Lofty Lizzie.
Your Apricot Sparkles looks like it has far more buds than mine ever did and it looks more ruffled. I don't have it anymore because the budcount was about 7 as I recall with more like 3 or 4 on rebloom scapes, but yours looks very nice and well budded.

Well, Bertie Ferris looks like a possibility. This was one I bought on eBay years ago with the name Apricot Sparkles. Funny how you rely on a seller to accurately identify a daylily, isn't it? I gave away 9 of the 10 plants I purchased and told everyone it was Apricot Sparkles, so I may have perpetuated bad info.

nat, I purchased Fear Not from a forum member about five years ago. It took four years to bloom, so this is only the second year I've seen it.

Yesterday was the FFO on Garden Dancer, so hopefully I'll have some better pics to post.

Here's Bertie Ferris pic when it started, I don't think I took another pic. Once a lady saw it and said that she had it too and what she has is called Apricot Sparkles. Later I saw it in her garden but don't remember much.
