I see buds! And leaves!

After what seemed like an eternity of looking at frost damaged leaves, I see buds and leaves emerging again. Was it only 3 weeks ago?

The bright green of new leaf buds was a welcome sight against the black, dead leaves from spring's first attempt. I was waiting to trim off any dead stuff until I saw where the new growth was coming from. My magnolia tripetala recovered the fastest of all and the old leaves felt easily to the ground with just a brush of my hand. I think some of the other plants might need some help with the clippers to clean off the dead stuff. Well, nature would do it eventually ... but I'd like it to look like spring earlier than that.

Hope everyone else is seeing new growth too. My neighbor is not sure about her hydrangea macrophyllas (I don't have any of those). I don't see any buds on hers yet.

Also, my Georgia oak seedlings (from our school Arbor Day program) are just now leafing out. They have the cutest little leaves!!
