More of what is blooming in the rain

My first post got a little carried away with too many photos! So I had to start another long one...lol. Here are more of what I took out between raindrops. We did have a lull for a few hours yesterday so I could take these. Today it's been drizzling all morning.

My borders are nowhere near as spectacular this year due to the rose blooms being ruined but there's still some color.
They look fine from a distance but up close they're riddled with beetle holes and soggy from the rain......

Kathy - I'm glad someone got the reference to song. I was humming Singing In the Rain while I was photographing. LOL Glad I could bring you a smile. Earlier this week, a lady stopped her car, rolled down her window and said she just wanted to tell me how much she loved my gardens. Here's what she said: "Whenever I've had a bad day at work, and I come around this corner and see all those flowers, it just makes me smile and forget my troubles." My yard is now semi-dry with some of the lowest areas still holding a few inches of water. The tropical desert island is no longer an island its just a plain old dirt mound again. One of the positives of all the rain is my Valemcia Pride tree is starting to put out buds and blooms. My little 2 foot high whipstick Rosigold tree has about 4-5 branches coming right out of the top that now look like they may be buds and not branches. Its the little tree that thought it could...but its so small it will have to wait until next year though. My new Graham tree just put out several nice buds, its big enough that I'll see if it holds a few fruit. The small Carrie tree is budding the best but once the fruit form I'm going to take them off it and let the tree mature another year before it fruits. My Angie looks like its putting out a few buds and its big enough that I'm going to wait and see what happens with it. My Pickering tree seems to be doing a lot of nothing so far. The Neelum tree is still surrounded by its own water moat so I'm not exactly sure what its doing and the Tebow tree is still a whipstick although it has a few new bumps forming up top.

It has almost from the beginning. And yet the ones that puzzle me are like Hyacinth Macaw. Bird Talk, Purple Honey Creeper and, until I had o move it , Cerulean Warbler. It did not bloom last year, and, in fact, almost died. It has grown another fan and has just put up a bloom spike. I will keep a watch, but may not allow it to bloom this year. Most of my new plants have bloom spikes, but not all of them yet. I am eager to see them, especially the ones like Fried Green Tomatoes and Jelly Roll Morton. It is almost like watching packages under the Christmas tree. :) kay

The roses sure look great in the pictures. Can't see any imperfections! Daylilies and lilies looking great too. My favorite is Cheddar Cheese. I just love that glowing golden yellow color.

I think your borders look magnificent! They are beautiful blend of colors, textures and shapes. Jolyene Nicole is my favorite of the daylilies. I also like Moussaka, which I've never seen before.

Them roses may be eaten up with holes in them, but the pictures of them are gorgeous. cant see no holes. just beauty. all the blooms are gorgeous, and I just love them lily blooms..Jolyene Nichole is a beauty.

Gorgeous borders, Celeste. You have tremendous talent to pull them together like that!
The roses and lilies are beautiful and I like your Carolyn Hunt Daylily. Your pictures are always enjoyable. I love to see them, the more the merrier.

Your borders look spectacular!
Asiatics look really nice. My favorite daylily is Incendiary. Does it open well for you? I also pick Moldovan seedling and Cheddar Cheese.

Your borders just look wonderful. You are probably the only one looking at beetle holes, everyone else is looking at the wonderful flowers. Your lilies are very pretty, mine are mostly finished now, I did notice Black Beauty blooming this afternoon. Your daylilies all are lovely too, my favorite is Incendiary.

Nat, to answer your question, Incendiary always opens perfect for me. No hanging up ever. This is one of my favorite daylilies. It comes back from the winter nice and big and no loss of fans either. Increase is good and it is a healthy plant.
Debra, Moussaka is brand-new from the Netherlands. It got planted late so I only got a few token blooms but at least I got to see it.

Your borders are beautiful, I wasn't looking for holes, just gorgeous flowers and I see lots of them. Love everything, Carolyn Hunt is interesting looking, have to check that out that one. Remember this, you can never post too many pictures here. Avedon

Oh great to know this about Incendiary. I got it last summer and it sent up scapes and bloomed. The flowers were very nice. Yet winter set it back and it's a smallish plant now and no blooms.
I was also glad to read that your Lav.Heartthrob is doing good. Mine has only 8 buds this year.
