seems like the wrong forum for this question but; Could be several reasons, too cold, too hot, too many ferts, too little ferts, too much sun, not enough sun etc. If it is in a pot it will be a challenge. What type of squash and how old and how big and how many leaves? It sounds like it needs ot go in the ground and just given a chance to grow. Sometimes you just need to give a plant time to grow.

Hi Toni, The tallest plant, the one with the leaf problems, is about six inches tall. The others are maybe 4.5 and 3 inches respectively. The light is about 15-18 inches from the top of the tallest citrus. The flourescent light puts out almost no heat, so I don't think that's the problem. Is it possible that it's just too bright? It *is* very glaring, but I didn't think flourescent lights were that powerful. In terms of fertilizer, I have been using a Schultz liquid 10-15-10 every two or three weeks, like I do for most of my plants. I recently switched to a top-dress dwarf citrus fertilizer 21-7-12 w/micros that I bought from a citrus farm in Florida. I haven't been misting the leaves, but I will try that. I don't know exactly how accurate my hygrometer is, but it did change when I took it out of my hermit crab tank and placed it near the plants. Thank you so much for your help, Toni! Laura

Jonathan, An interesting observation. Not sure what 'tip' means. Probably you did not mean those dormant 'scale shields' that first drop off at dormancy break, cannot remember the right technical term. Just went out to inspect all my figs trees. Noticed some that fit your description. At this early stage of spring, I noticed some figs with 'still tightly' held buds that looked reddish. On very close examination, I noticed that it is ACTUALLY the underside of the (very young) curled leaves that FIRST shows up, together with their underside veins! This is what gives the 'tip' the red hue. No contradiction here. Then the leaf flips over and the vein red color fades, as it matures. This is what I observed: My 2 HCs (sources: EL and Hartmann) showed it. Sal's (EL) showed it. VdB (EL) showed it. My #4 unknown (Ta Cenc) showed it (wonder what this fig really is!). My #2 (MOST obvious, also observed by Herman last year) and #5 unknowns (supposedly of the Mission fig type) showed it. All other figs none... Specifically looked at the Black Mission and Vista Mission young figs (both) from Jon, and neither showed it! They may in a more advanced leafing out stage. However I did observe the the Vista breba start as a bead-sized, shoe-polish-black color, and then fade away as the figlets grows... George (NJ).

Yes I agree with GH I have a few the same as yours growing here that I didn't look after too well, while we were building the house and had the same trouble, now with all that behind us and I water regular they are coming on great..... Cheers..MM.
