Oh my... I have no planning skills!

Does anyone else suffer from no vision into the future of how large things will get? I purchased a weeping cherry tree from lowes in the summer, the tag said 12ft tall by 12ft wd. I envisioned a pretty graceful whispy delightful and delicate tree just lightly blowing in the wind. I was in the rose forum, i posted a picture of my project, when someone pointed out that the tree would be shading my yard in no time.

So i googled it, (why i didnt do before hand is beyond me!) to find it gets to be 30 ft! Yikes!!!!

So , shall i enjoy its blooms for a year or two? Or just see if i live here long enough to see it shade my rose garden? I love how cute it is now, but i know tree removal is a pain...

What size mistakes have you made in the garden? Id love to hear your advice as well.

Here is a pic of my tree, please forgive the yard, the dirt is a recently cleared veggie bed and what looks like weeds on the fence are really flowers! Its my latest project.
