What a day at Hanson's!!!

Dont' even know where to begin!!!My sister in law and I went to see Curt Hanson at Crintonic Gardens. It was only 1 hour and 20 minute trip and so worth it!!! Went on this day, cause Dan Hansen had told me he would be there and to visit, so we did!! Got the royal treatment. His place was spectacular, and the bloom was beyond belief. Here is a picture of his field.

Here is a pond, ( just for you Rita) he had several ponds at his place, this was the smallest one

I came home with Swallow Tail Kite, Water Spirits, Mask & Metaphor, Mystery Achievement, most were clumps!!!

He gave me From My Lips, Accidental Tourist and Sacco and Vanzetti as bonuses!!! Curt was very generous and he is a great guy. We also had a tour of his Hosta Garden which was also beautiful. Another view of his place

WOW Cindy....WHAT A TRIP! I love Curt Hanson's cultivars! Swallow Tail Kite sure is a beauty when she blooms here! Looks like he was very generous with your purchases too! I agree on that seedling...WOW! He sure has a beautiful place there! He must have that fencing up to keep deer out....LOL

I wish I had known you were coming, I would have tried to stop by. If you were here over the weekend I would have also told you to swing by the NODS Daylily sale which was Saturday and Sunday and not too far from Curt's. They had over 300 varieties for sale from $5.00 to $40.00 and there were some very nice plants. I brought home GUIDED BY VOICES, SHERRY LANE CARR, NILE NITENGALE, MANDARIN SEAS, PROJECT BLUE BOOK, VOICES IN THE FOG, LITTLE RAINBOW, and REGENCY HEIGHTS.

Thanks, Jean -- Another vote for CW. Poly, I have plenty that never reach their registered height, no matter how long they stay here. I'd much rather they exceed their height since I like the tall ones, too. Twix, sorry Ansel Adams decided to take a year off for you. It's been very reliable here, and one of the first Hansons I ever purchased. CW is a must (in case you haven't heard that its my favorite daylily). Julia, True to Whim has been here a while. I usually post a pic a year because it's been such a dependable daylily and does have good bud count. Some days the color is quite a bit darker than the lavender showing in the pic, but it's always nice looking.

I love them all! Nat - The last one is Coastal Grand. I could have sworn I typed the name on it, but it disappeared. I've added it back now. The yellow is a polychrome with pink highlights. My camera tends to blow out yellows and make them lighter than they really are. Nancy - So sorry to hear about your Allegheny Skyline. You need to follow my rule, no dividing until you have at least six fans. I got Silver Sword two falls ago, and this is the first season it has bloomed. That one takes a while to settle in. I don't think it likes being divided. The other two I got from Holmes bloomed last year. Betty Bush is a nice one, especially now that I have several fans. Julia - I do think The Blues Project resembles Self Determination. I think Allegheny Skyline multiplies much faster here than it does for you. I originally got it as a one-fan bonus with a Lily Auction win, and within three years it was six fans. My original plant died back to two two years ago, and now it's seven. Most of my daylilies in the front are on shorter scapes, but in the backyard more than half - especially the dormants - are taller than usual. Debra

Cindy - I really envy you. I would love to visit Hanson's garden. Your pictures have me seriously thinking about doing an Ohio trip before the end of July.

That second seedling is a real knockout!

It sounds like you brought home some great ones, and Curt was so generous with the bonuses! The only one of those I have is Mask and Metaphor. I really love the colors in that one.

Wow! What a great trip you had and what a generous guy!!! Hmmm, I wonder how long it would take me to get there. Maybe one day.

What a great trip. Your so close that you should make it an annual trip from now one. Love all the fields of blooms. Plus looks like you got some awesome new plants.

I was smiling looking at the pond picture. Thinking I love ponds. Then I read the caption and I see you thought of me and posted the pond. Awesome. I love the pond :-)) Geez, thats the smallest one, I would go nuts to have one that BIG!

Great photos! Thanks for sharing. I also think Curt's plants are great, though I only get the semi-evergreens he does. Not surprised seeing Dan Hansen there. I noticed in the videos that Dan did at his place, Curt was is several of them.

Fantastic! Living as close as you do I would go at least yearly or more. Curt's place is certainly a showpiece with all those gorgeous daylilies, drool time here. I know I would have bought lots of daylilies from him, lucky you to see it all in person. I have twenty of Curt's daylilies including Swallow Tail Kite which is stunning. Thank you for sharing your great pictures with us....Betty

I'm so jealous! I'm from Cleveland originally and keep meaning to plan a trip to the east side to visit his gardens, but haven't made it yet. Those fields are amazing, but I'm especially floored by the photo of the lavender seedling. Thanks for posting!

Lucky you! What a great trip and thanks so much for the pictures. Swallow Tail Kite is a beauty. It's the only one of those that I have, but I know he has lots of great ones. Sounds like you got wonderful bonuses and amazing plants.

Yes, Curt's place is southeast of Cleveland in Gates Mill. In fact, we are planning on going again in about 3 weeks, just to see what he has blooming later!!! the fence is electric and is absolutely for the deer!!! I will have to post the blooms from the ones I brought home that day on another thread.

Wow, How pretty his place is.I would have loved to see a place like that, without the heat we been having.It must be hot there, too.Them fields are so pretty.Thank you for taking all them pictures and posting them for all of us to see, too..I injoyed my tour very much.
