OH MY MICHELLE: these are just too gorgeous for words.CHERRY BURST is just a beauty.HALLOWEEN HOCUS POCUS, really stands out.Love, love,EXOTIC TREASURE, wow, its so pretty, and I love, love love LITTLE RED WAGON.Its just beautiful.

these are all good looking blooms. June Hudson is exquisite. Wispy Rays is such a show off, always a stunner. Lil Red Wagon is another favorite -- rich deep ruffly red blooms and excellent growth habits.

Wow! I love that you have so many blooming already. These are all wonderful and pure indulgence for the soul. Just what I needed to try to be optimistic that spring is around the corner.....even if that corner is covered in snow...lol. It is so hard to pick a favorite anytime of the year, but right now being so starved for daylilies they ALL are my favorites. The color of Hot Scheme makes me feel warm all over. Thanks Rita. You really can't see the blooms in this shot because it so far away. I was up on the porch.. SW is a pretty good one. I was surprised you liked the teeth on Floota's thread..Ellie Yep Kay, I like that cross too! I am surrounded my woods and have a tough time with mulch. You see that I have very little.. Glad you enjoyed it.. Thank you Julia. I don't do much now with diploids but Flambouyant Eyes does have pretty kids. That one has a wonderful pleated edge. 2nd year to bloom.. Vickie, I do sit there a lot but the other side of the yard is shadier. I have a canvas swing there where I sit and look at the daylily patches. Yay for swings... Thanks for looking!! Ellie

Well, it was a dog last year and on the watch list for this year but to my shock, shaped up nicely. I really didn't think it would. Big ruffled edges (hey chicken fat anyone?) always have problems here and I have gotten rid of many. Even tossed one from a northern hybridizer that wouldn't open. My older Maryott intros aren't as much ruffled edges so do just fine. I am now at the point were I am too afraid to buy a big ruffled edged Florida or California newest intros. I stick with those northern hybridizers. Emmerich intros open fine no matter how much edge and I can't wait to se what Karol will put out for her 2012 intros. Also Choral Fantasy was splotchy last year but I sprayed for thrips this year and no more splotchness. It does have the most intense color :-)

Thanks Jean and carefree, I really had a lot of fun today taking pictures. The daylilies seem to like all the rain we've had lately.

I can't even pick a favorite, they are all so beautiful in their own way!

June Hudson doesn't seem to wilt under the rain. Looks like she has good substance... at least I think that's what it's called.

Your picture of June Hudson is outstanding. Especially since the flower is clean and gorgous. Mine were always splotchy, sent them south. I know I got mine from Maryotts and asked Bill about the splotchness. He said he had sold down south and they seemed to be fine. So I figgured it just didn't like my garden.

I love the hot colors on Lil Red Wagon and Wispy Rays. Your blooms are all wonderful today.

Well, I think it must be true that you don't know what you like until you see it. If someone had asked me if I would like a golden daylily with a mahogany/purple eye and edge I would have said, 'Nah'. But Halloweeen Hocus Pocus is stunning. You have some plant in the background with mahogany tinged leaves and stems that is enhancing the effect. (I also liked your part I pictures.) Christine

Rita, I picked up June Hudson last year locally. It was gorgeous in that garden. I didn't see any splotchiness. The first couple blooms here this year were splotchy. I don't know if it will be like that all the time or if it was due to the heavy rains we got the nights before they opened. There were 3 open in that picture and the other 2 were splotchy. I hope it will straighten out because I do love it. It's one of DH's favorites also.
Christine, HHP was one that DH had to have. I do like it a lot though. The plant next to it is a Ninebark Diablo shrub. It has really taken off this year and I'm going to need to move HHP and Meet Joe Black which is on the other side of the shrub.
