Morning Light in the morning light

mrmorton -- this one's for you, buddy. I have some Miscanthus Morning Light that I thought would look pretty cool in the morning sun, and sure enough it did -- at least I think so. The focus could be better, but check it out.

How about as soon as they start blooming...............LOL> Cooler than normal weather has made my "garden" slower to respond this year. As for the donkeys, they are just waiting for me to mow the weeds so they can find the grass. Warmer days are just ahead though as I saw my first painted bunting yesterday. That is always such a pleasant surprise for me.

Thanks Patricia. You’re right about the ceiling height, not sure why I included that info in this post. What do you think about adding a faux beam across the ceiling? That way we could move the electrical for the light and add a little nicer look vs the square mounting box. I measured 30-36” from the table top and in a formal dining room that is where I would place the fixture; I’m just wondering if there’s a spot a bit higher that wouldn’t block the view through the windows (you can see straight from the front door) but wouldn’t look funny hanging higher than the ideal height. Maybe making sure to purchase a light that you can visually see through, like a metal orb fixture, would be a better idea?

That's what I was thinking - that I could cut off the plumes. I grow Pennisetum 'Hamelin' and one other that is a little larger, and I haven't wanted to move those. I did have one older plant that died out in the middle and I did take a piece of it to move and then cut out the dead center and allowed it to grow back in. Took a few seasons before it looked right and it's in a very visible spot. I do love 'Morning Light' So I think I am going to have to make a place for it, thanks for the encouragement. :-)

I think this fixture would be awesome in that space it is LED and looks like branches of a tree with lights at the endsit is quite large but really hugs the ceiling and looks amazing when lit. It is from Europhase and called Autumn

Much better! lol. Grasses look amazing with the morning sun as a backdrop(or any sun for that matter).

Beautiful pictures - love everyone of them - thanks so much for sharing them. I am going more and more to ornamental grasses - they give you pretty much 4 season interest plus the birds love feasting on the grass seeds and once established they care for themselves with little water needs and virtually pest free.....

Guess I don't know much about focus, but that is one spectacular photo, ThinMan!

Your photos are very pretty too MrMorton. I've been interested in grasses for a very long time, but it was MrMorton's posts about his grasses that really pushed me to try some of my own. I have quite a nice group of them now and LOVE THEM. So thanks, MrM.
