Comments (16)Karen.... I got these dwarfs in trade and I'll be dipped in batter if I can remember who from! I have a bunch in my database that don't have a traders name and I'm betting they all came from the same person. I assume these dwarfs are of the species C. sonata and if they are they'll probably be about 2'. As for fragrance of cosmos, I've never came across a fragrant one yet. What kind do you have that is? I'd like to know LOL! ooooo ooooo check it out! I just had to open up another winter and search google for "fragrant cosmos" and found this thread titled "What do primroses smell like?????" and someone brought up something called Cosmos atrosanguineus (Chocolate Cosmos)!!!! I posted the link to the thread. Now this I gotta have :D Here is a link that might be useful: Fragrant Plants Forum~...See MoreFor those who have smelled these...... what do they smell like?
Comments (8)Flower: I forgot to mention the sweet Olive.... it is the best I just love it, I go out on my patio and front porch and have to smell it every time.. it is the most beautiful sweet scent of apricots, I have 4 that are blooming right now and it's so different from any other plant I ever smelled, I ordered a synthetic oil on ebay and put it all over my house on flat cotton wipes, I even put it in the vents of my heater, it is really nice. I have 4 michelia figos that all have buds on them, they smell like very sweet ripe bananas. I also love the smell of honeysuckle, I bought a couple six packs of ground cover honeysuckle and planted them in hanging pots near my patio door, I think it will be a wonderful waft when they all come into bloom. I can hardly wait to smell them, this is my first season with all my fragrant plants. If your just getting started on fragrant plants be careful it's very very addicting but fun!!!! My other most favorite is brugmansia (Angel Trumpet), they are absolutely THE BEST! The differnt colors vary in fragrance, some smell a strong honey vanilla, others smell like a sweet lemony citrus, and another smells like a white flower scent like jasmine with the honey also. They are wonderful only smell at night, I have about 7 now and growing more, the ones by my front door smell my whole living room up when the door is open on a warm evening. So..... enjoy!!!!!! P.S. brugmansia's are very easy to root from a cutting....just stick it in water for a few weeks and stick it in the ground, they grow like weeds....See MoreWhy do Amethyst Falls Wisteria flowers smell like cat urine
Comments (9)It took me 3 years to train mine into a 6-foot tree form and it died this winter. :( Oh well, but back on topic ... sometimes the flowers smelled really sweet and grape-like and sometimes they smelled like cat urine. Go figure. If I remember correctly, they smelled sweeter and more pleasant when they were young and began to smell poorly as they aged. This year I'm going to try again to form a Wisteria standard, but I'm using Wisteria macrostachya 'Blue Moon'. It's supposed to be more hardy, but like Amethyst Falls it's not crazy aggressive. Also, the flower panicles are longer (about 1 foot) and it supposed to repeat bloom at least 2-3 additional times through the season. Wish me luck!...See MoreDo you think cilantro smells like ...
Comments (38)What I don't get is all the Mexican food here has tons of cumin in it, but when I was younger, I lived in Monterey and on a ranch just north of Guadalajara. I learned to make all of their foods and not one dish had that in it. My first experience with Cilantro was on the ranch. I was riding my horse in some woods and got poison oak. The old women there chopped up the cilantro and mixed it in a glass of water with some other herbs. They told me to drink it to get rid of the poison oak. I couldn't stand the smell and declined. It took 20 years for me to acquire a taste for it in salsa....See Moremare2
