First time Muscadine

This my first post, so i hope I'm not asking the wrong forum. As usual, i frequent the clearance isle at the home improvement stores seeing what i can add to my garden. Found this muscadine looking pretty shabby, but after doing so research looks like i planted at just the right time. However, based on what ive read it seems that i should begin training this plant into the "T" formation better future production. Is it too late to hack away the unwanted shoots or should i let it go one season and then do some drastic cuts during winter? Its alreadybegun to sprout some new leaves and what looks like some flowers? Appreciate any insight.
