Just want to add that I disagree with it being somewhat invasive. I actually think it's fairly invasive. This stuff is growing rather wildly around my area. I frequently see it growing on the sides of roads and in the middle of pastures.

Less known to me personally, botanists have been saying that Lantana camara has been cross pollinating with our own native Lantana depressa creating hybrids and rapidly depleting the number of depressa's in the wild.

Lantana hybrids do bloom well and all summer long in full Florida sun. I found I had to cut mine back here several times this past summer, but it was almost always in flower.

That looks like 1 of the hybrids to me - they do not seem to be as prolific as the L. camara, which is a larger plant & has Froot Loop-colored flowers & reseeds easily. Birds can spread it; I've seen mockingbirds eating L. camara berries. In fact, I only recall finding L.camara seedlings - are the red/orange, yellow & white hybrids sterile?

Real butterfly magnet too, BTW.

I agree with Leekle2ManE. There's a reason it's classed as a category 1 invasive. Only plant cultivars you know to be sterile, and not all the other colors are always sterile. I have feral white, yellow and purple around here. HD was selling a very invasive yellow variety for a while.

One more thing - it causes a rash on some people. I can't cut or pull lantana - it's like poison ivy to me. And it's not an uncommon allergy.

Didn't realize this was invasive.... I do think I bought it at HD. Such a pretty orange. Mine gets very scraggly and dies so I pulled out most of it. Cut one of shrubs back hard and it came back. will have to look like for l camara

I have this bush/tree growing along the edge of the ditch in my back yard. The flowers are pretty but I donot know the name of it. Does anyone know if it's a native,non-native, invasive or non-invasive plant?

I can't think of the name but it is very invasive.
