Possible to root Picea abies?

In the process of moving and planting a Picea abies 'Pendula major' on Christmas day, we broke off several side branches :( This may be a really dumb question, but is there any chance they could be rooted? I read Ken's post and Dax's reply in 9/06 about rooting, but no mention of Picea abies. Anyone ever try it? Or should I just throw them in the compost pile and forget it? Or if they have any value as scion for grafting, I'd be happy to mail them to anyone interested. They're just such pretty little branches I hate to toss them. Kim
