On one hand I find it very good, that Edwin knows what plants were renamed at his german friend by the times. Thats very good to make problems clear. On the other hand I also think, if we had breeders or authors, who are able to give names in situ, without later change, our work should have been much more easier in following conifer history. By this way I like sometimes Edwin for these infos. I m fighting since 30 years with authors, who name their plants HB 1, WB 2, WB # 145, HB 28 and so on. Even the bests are able to kill their plants with unuseful names. The most tragic story is the Horstmann's. Everything is full with HB names, sometimes HB 5 or 8. By this way without loveable and unsoldable names the Horstmann Heritage is lost for the conifer history. Half of the Jerry Morris Heritage is also lost by numbers. The czech breeders are able to give names in the forest in situ. Why are others not able this? Chub Harper, Joe Stupka was also able to give names in situ, and their hertiage will be not lost. A little updated information. Complements of Bob Fincham's web site. Notice how he spells it. Picea pungens ÂMrs. Cessarini is a confusing plant. It is a dense, flat topped bush with coarse blue and green foliage. The founder, Joe Cessarini discovered it as a witchesÂ-broom and maintains that it was found on a Picea abies. The foliage is uncharacteristic to either species so he could be right. However, a graft of this cultivar was made onto the top of a twenty foot high Picea abies f. pendula by Eddie Rezek and it was pushed very hard into very rapid growth. It looks very much like Picea pungens ÂR.H. Montgomery in this particular instance. For that reason I have labeled it as Picea pungens. Dave

Gary Gee is the other nurseryman of America (after Bob Fincham) whom I met. It was in Cesko, he came there from Holland with dutch colleagues to Mr. Malik. Gary is a low level mailing person, by this way we have no more connection. He takes part in the Minnesota Broomhuntings as grafter and finder. The Minnesota broomhuntings were started in Duluth MN by 2 gardeners, who discovered 534 brooms with GPS in and around Minnesota. This story started about 2010 as Joe Braeu and Josh Horky used their GPS for discoverings. Since that time year to year many nurserymen are garhering in Duluth in February for the broom harvest. Dennis Hermsen USA Dennis is a well known nurseryman, who is also taking part in the Minnesota Broomhuntings. Joe Stupka USA Joe Stupka is a member of the 80's generation, as Chub Harper and a bit later. He found sometimes together with Chub, but mostly separated of him. His cultivars are over 100. Randy Dykstra USA Dave Horst USA Randy and Dave were working in Bickelhaupt with Chub Harper, sometimes cooperated with Jerry Morris. Their hands are on the Bickelhaupt collection. Dax Herbst documented their conifers in the last 10 years. The Conifer Master Diploms were posted by Dax Herbst some years ago. Tom Cox USA I met with Tom Cox in 2008, as he visited the Holata nursery in Cesko with ACS President Lady Kelly and members. I introduced them a vision about my conifer plans. This was a big ACS database, the Breeders Hall and other possible ways. I think I was bad or they didn't understood what I'd like. Maybe they thought, that I want money of them... I sent him the Conifer Master Diplome personally. I tried also to build a connection to Don Howse, the former conifer propagator there, but I was not successful. I asked a guy to connect to him, but he closed the way before me to a man, who had a great knowledge of conifers. This guy was an ACS officier. Thats why Don Howse may be not well represented in the american conifer book. I'm very sorry of this, but its not my problem. Rich Eyre USA I always liked the conifer videos of Rich, but he realized his own conifer world. Sometimes alone, sometimes with other friends, like Jerry Morris. The Picea pungens RM series is their common find, 60 brooms in one place. His own selections are available in the book. Brent Markus USA Sam Pratt USA And finally lets have a synthesis of the previous news. Anyone can find the conifers on Conifer Kingdom. Brent started with a new concept of conifers. He collected a wide sortiment of the american conifers. There is the best of them. Every important ancestors are represented there. The Conifer Kingdom is so deeply american, that you cant imagine. It's all good Dax you know we've been tight ever since we broke bread together before that epic day of scion rustling in Clinton and its surroundings a couple winters ago. That's something that's always been invaluable about online forums like this: to make contacts and arrange for fun meetings and adventures. I will not likely write any more about a certain notorious individual. Definitely too much personal bad water has passed under that bridge. I'll leave it that I know things and have seen things that most people never see and would greatly disturb them if they did. Nonetheless, in my never ending search for enlightenment, I never back away or move sideways . . . In conversations with some of the old-timers from these forums (most of which I still know and talk with), many have mentioned the sterile anonymity and problems with pseudo-personalities as reasons for leaving GardenWeb.
