pandanus veitchii

Patience is not my strong suit so rather than wait forever to see is my pandanus veitchiis (lots of them) are truly dead, I thought I'd ask you all what you think. they are all brown and I don't see any new growth from the center.Has anyone had experience with these during or after the freeze? will they come back from the roots?

I've had these for years and both green and varigated. Some had reached 12 feet or more and were a great screen in front of a fence. They were given to me by a neighbor and I'm afraid I wont'be able to purchase new ones if all mine are dead. so sad as they are show stopping!
