Well it's shapiing up to be the best daylily season ever in my garden. So far, I've counted more than 40 daylilies with rebloom scapes coming. I usually only get 15-17 out of 600 that rebloom. I guess the kind of flooding rain that comes along once in a hundred years will do that for a garden. I'm still fighting thrips, but at least they don't seem to be winning the battle right now. Here are the daylilies that posed for me today:

SYMPHONY OF PRAISE - one of my top favorite pinks!

MUTTON JADE has opened a bit early in the Late Bloomers Bed. It has 25-27 buds per scape and immediate rebloom scapes coming!

SMOOTH JAZZ

LITTLE MYSTIC MOON had 19 flowers open today. So far, this miniature is the best budded in the garden with 39-44 buds per scape.

MARDI GRAS PARADE made a nice clump today, too. Bud count is a bit lower than last year, but still in the mid-20s.

LAVENDER REFLECTIONS towers above ADAMAS (left) and MOONLIT MASQUERADE (right) LR was a bonus that I really love!

Wonderful, just wonderful. I hardly know what to pick. But I just love that first pink, SYMPHONY OF PRAISE and also LITTLE MYSTIC MOON the best for now.

Orchid Elegance, Speedo, and Land Shark really jump out at me out of these blooms, but they are all nice. Your clumps are just gorgeous. Jan G.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Nell, I'll be sure to tell my husband that you liked the photos. He's my official photographer. (He just bought a Cannon SLR and it does make a difference). gldno1, This is my first year planting cuphea, so I don't know if it will reseed. I planted Euryops 2 years ago for the first time, couldn't find it last year and was pleased to find it again this year. It's my favorite yellow daisy because it doesn't need any babying. When I planted Maguerites last year, they wilted in the humidity of August. I am going to try to collect seeds this year. Achileasheel, I am fast becoming a Coleus addict. After those photos were taken I planted 2 more! Flowerlady, my "rich soil" is due to way too much digging and mixing on my part. I have yellow clay so I wound up mixing a 1/3 clay, 1/3 sand, 1/3 composted manure combo in my wheelbarrow and then planting my perennials. I am lasagnaing my next garden because this method is way too much work (although I've built up my arm muscles!) Cameron, you are so right on the difference a zone makes. I have a friend in Canada and her peonies just started to open. Mine have been over since the tenth (I know the date because my younger son turned 15 that day.) I am amazed that your phlox is already blooming - I have three weeks to go! (it probably doesn't help that every year in the beginning of the season I get a free pruning courtesy of the deer). Blondiesc, my next garden I am going to do more geraniums. They are a wonderful plant. My Johnson's Blue has been there since 2001 with no division and comes up like gangbusters every year. Annie, I always buy my heliotrope started in cell packs. I am a lazy girl. I plant them in amended clay - I dig out the clay, add in one big handful of good quality top soil (I only use Fafard brand), 1 handful of composted manure, mix that up with the clay and then plant in that. Full sun for heliotrope and it likes water (although not wet roots). We've been getting close to 2 inches a week of rain for the past three weeks and the plant has never been happier. I am not so generous when they depend on me for watering. proudgm and trailrunner, glad you enjoyed. And for those of you who liked my rambling captions, that's partly because I had a large and diverse group of friends over at livejournal where I keep my blog. Chris - I still have No Boys Allowed in a pot, but I'm planning to put it right next to Morticia. I think they look great together too. Ngraham - Maybe all the heat has faded your Chartered Course blooms. Mine only started looking right after the rain this week. Christine - I love the shape of Asterisk. I have another unusual form spatulate like that named Dancing Summerbird. Mantis - I hadn't noticed Zuzu was in the Sphinx pose until you mentioned it. The comment made me smile. Celestialrose - It sounds like Cowgirl and Zeus have a lot in common, including the turkey and roast beef treats. I'm so grateful that she adjusted so well to living inside. Kay - Cowgirl spends a lot of time in that particular window. On the days I'm at work, she sits there in the afternoon watching for my car to come up the driveway. Jane - My Royal Jester looks much more coral with orange tones in the sun and later in the day. Here's another photo: ROYAL JESTER Here's my last bloom on HOLLY DANCER today. This one not only stopped traffic this summer. It got people out of their cars and asking about this pure red spider. HOLLY DANCER SWAMP CREATURE, an ML bloomer from Margo Reed, blooms very late here. This photo was taken at 7:30 last night when SC had faded from very light yellow to a ghostly white. Debra

I know, I am a sucker for pink, but Symphony of Praise is just gorgeous! Smooth Jazz is beautiful, and who can resist clump shots? That's a lot of blooms on those two clumps. Tuxedo Junction is a beautiful white, and I love the green throat. The pictures are beautiful. This is altogether a lovely post.

Your pictures are fantastic. So hard to pick favorites when every one of them is gorgeous, but that Symphony of Praise is absolutely stunning.

WOW Debra, these are all so beautiful! I added Smooth Jazz to me garden last fall, I'll have to check to see if I have scapes. Emmaus really catches my eye, definitely on my want list! Little Mystic Moon is AWESOME!

Debra, you have so many beauties that I am hard put to chose a favorite. True North and Speedo are a couple of my choices though. I think the season is good for most everyone this year. Yay for the rain. We had another thunderstorm this afternoon... No watering for a few days. I like that! Ellie

Well, DEBRA.I had a couple picked out for my favorites,and then you had to go and add some more beauties, so I just give up on a favorite.Its impossible with so many beauties in front of me.They are all so beautiful.I really love that purple one SPARTICUS ADORNED. Sheer beauty..

Ellie - I wish it would rain here again. Those scattered afternoon thunderstorms keep missing my place. I've got to get the soaker hoses and sprinklers on tonight.

Jean - Sparticus Adorned is a fabulous plant. The only thing it doesn't do is rebloom. I have some seedlings with it as a parent. I look forward to seeing what they will look like and how they will perform.

These are all beautiful! My picks would be Lavender Reflections, Speedo and Conquest Quay. It's hard to pick among all these beauties though.
Wish some of the rain would come here. It's been sooooo hot and dry. The afternoon storms keep missing us.
