growing vines on my house in SoFla. Should I? Which type?

The front of my house faces east, so we get the morning sun. My house is one of those 1970's "faux spanish" ranch homes. I have a barrel tile roof, and an archway before the front door. My husband and I want to put two big pots on either side of the archway...and maybe a third pot on the other side of the garage...and grow vines.

Is there a type of vine that will flourish, given the direction my house faces, my climate, etc? I keep hearing some vines can actually ruin the exterior of your home. I also keep hearing about the bug issue. Any opinions on those two topics?

I would *love* something flowering,...would bougainvilla be appropriate?

Please advise! Thanks!

Oh, below is a link to a picture. You can see how my arch and garage section juts out and away from the rest of the house. BTW, the white garage will be painted soon.
