Your zone 10..have a tree with some dappled light ? Stick it under it for now.

It may still be suffering from any overwatering. That is if you overwatered.

Mine will wilt when i havn`t beena good mommy....... but it perks right up. Looks fine. I don`t think that is the problem.

I would like to see picture. But since i don`t know how to do it, I don`t expect you to either LOL.

When the weather warms up you might want to rip it apart and start over with more soil. It may have gone sour.

To be honest, I do this every year with my bat and jewel orchid. They are very forgiving. I am always sharing both. I have 3 baby bat plants in my pot right now.

I got mine from jupiterplants last year.
It's been living in a pot outside under the starfruit tree.
I only brought it inside on the 2 coldest nights this winter.
I must say, it loves it there. It always seems to have a bloom or three on it at any given time.
I've done very little to it, very occasional liquid fertilizer last summer, that's all.

Maybe yours needs a bit more light and humidity than its getting indoors?
If you move it out, be sure it's in full shade! You don't want any sunburn to further stress it.

Now that I've heard from the expert, I'll repot mine this spring. And the jewel orchids too. (They're in full bloom right now!)

I recently had a new experience with the black form .It went dormant for almost 3 months. Completely died down and I didn't toss it being a lazy gardener lol. Popped back up
about 1/1 and is growing like crazy again. Had this particular plant for over 5 years and has never happened before. It has happened to other plants and I threw them away.!!! I had read about this but never experienced it before. Don't throw it away even if it loses all it's leaves. Seems to happen to the black much more than the white or green types even then it doesn't happen every year.

I agree don't throw it away, for some reason they sometimes but not all the time, go dormat. The one I have now is in a protected spot, in bright light in the ground and doing wonderfully.

I think that bat plants need a lot more "bright" light that people are led to believe. They can tolerate very bright light (not direct sun) but thrive in a place that gets good filtered or dappled light and high air movement.

I tried one in the house years ago when they were still very expensive (Before they started showing up at Walmart and other box stores). There was one at our local independent nursery for $35 and I had 15 "bonus bucks" saved up from previous purchases so I got it for $20. It was gorgeous, not a spot on it, it had been living in their greenhouse for quite a while. I put it indoors in my house and it was either dead (or dormant...I didn't know back then that they could go dormant) within less than a month.

I have both black and white ones in my greenhouse now and they do great. The white ones never go dormant, but the black ones will sometimes lose a few leaves and try to when the light changes with the shortening days in winter. The black ones even set seeds and they dropped and germinated without my knowledge and started 2 entire new stands of plants!

Thanks for all the advice. I guess once this weather passes, I'll put it outside, where I had orginally planned to stick it, under the sapodilla tree, which is shaded all day long, but with pretty good light just because the tree canopy is so high.

Also good to know that it may just be going dormant and I shouldn't toss it.
