Sunday summer garden pics.... this is the day the Lord has made--

above is the same double baby I keep taking photographs of, I can't help it. I'm reposting because in this photo you see a side view. I love how globular it looks from about every angle - It's so big and funky on a too tall stem, but you can see what a show off it is from the garden view. I can't wait to get a clump of this monster. :)

FFO on Friends With Benefits, big bloom, pretty color, and not the usual full form I grow in my garden, but it was a gift from Paul Owens from another purchase. I can tell I'm going to really like this one once it gets a good clump going. Does anyone grow the next flower, Africa ? and then next is one of my garden favorites, big and showy light Tuscawilla Snowdrift. nice sized blooms! below shows the clump in the corner of my bed. the last pic is a box planter on the porch, I think I've posted before, but it's still growing nicely and looked extra splashy today with the orange hibiscus blooming next to it. :)

Your great big double baby does look very globular. It will be magnificent in a clump. And tall scapes are in very in right now. How tall are its scapes? Friends With Benefits looks like a great gift plant. I love the narrow ones, and the color and triangular throat pattern are very attractive.

Hi all thanks for the comments, I need spring too, 7 more weeks!!!, Cait1- yes we own 2 acres behind us and then the woods go on for miles, hope no one every develops goldenpond - yes that is raggedy ann and andy on the door, no I am not a collector, hubby remodels houses and this was an kids bedroom door the new owner wanted gone and I scoffed it Crows were decoys of hubbys so I scoffed those for my "dead"(rust graveyard) garden LOL Kudzukween - the rain chimes my hubby made those, showed him a pic and thats the idea he came up with, thank you We are freezing here in southeastern New Hampshire but no snow to speak of, took a walk around the house and I am envisioning what to do 1st in spring, the garden, pathway behind the arbor

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. The muffins were great. Brought them in to work with me to share so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the whole batch! Felix! Scones!!! That's what I should have made. sounds like a project for tonight. I have some blueberries to use up. Cindee, I don't know what passie this is. I got it a couple of years ago at HD but of course it was not marked. I'm thinking it is possibly alata caerulea. It has a very nice fragrance. Vigorous growth but manageable. I'm going to try to get some cuttings rooted. I haven't had the best luck with rooting things but I don't think I wait long enough before I give up. Going to try a little patience this time :) (Now I will have Guns and Roses playing in my head all day - lol! All we need is just a little patience ...... Patience... Ooh, oh, yeah) ~Betsy

Thank you, Everybody! I wish I could say it REALLY looks that good, but it is selective photography, honest. Oh, well...at least I have something to SELECT from, eh? I am trying to build up my supply of coleus cuttings so I have some to trade. Will keep you all posted in that regard. Felix, that red-orange flower is Mexican sunflower (tithonia rotundiflora). It is related to the sunflower tree (tithonia grandiflora) and is a great butterfly plant. I have lots of volunteers from a bed of them I planted a couple of years ago. Your double does stand out in your pic as being the biggest flower in the shot. Very pretty indeed! I don't grow Africa but I sure love it. I have one dark one in the garden Night Beacon and I was surprised because when it bloomed it has be-
come my very most favorite (for now) I've got about 20 too plant and 14 more on order. Love your daylilies and your garden shots & your box.

Deb, it's right about 35" but sure could use a stronger stem, maybe 10 years from now I'll know how to get all that into one plant. ha! :)

I was surprised how huge Tuscawilla Snowdrift was when it bloomed here. Not sure how well it will perform in this climate though.
