The clear colors and clean lines of some of the older daylilies are indispensable in my yard.

Julie Fasset, Bergles, 1969.

I love your golden oldies. I am an oldie myself, don't know about how golden although they call these the golden years. I have ROCKET CITY myself and I love it. I don't think a daylily needs to be new to be beautiful. Love all your oldie flowers :-))

Laurel I posted the same flower as unknown last week and the closest answer I got was siloam New Toy. It looks pretty close! Heres a pic of my unknown Pretty sure its the same one! hope this helps. (Well I guess its not unknown anymore.) Im just gona call it Siloam New Toy. -Jessica

Here's mine. For a few years, when I was little (during the 50s), the gas stations (We called them "service stations" back then. I suppose that's because they actually provided you with service.) had mailboxes for children to mail their letters to Santa. I remember one that hung between the tanks at the local Shell my parents went to. This one is a 76 Union mailbox (the logo is under the gold bow). I found it (or should I say, "It found me.")shortly after we moved into our first and only house. I paid $20 for it back then - far, far more than I could afford at the time, but I've never regretted it. It's falling apart, but I treat it ever so gently and hope the rust won't spread. Recently I found an old photo from my hometown newspaper (me, mailing a letter to Santa) and have started to display it next to the mailbox.

I sure do miss all my older, golden oldies!!! They were left behind in my garden in Weatherford when I moved. I had some newer ones, but there were some that I really wished that I had taken the time the divide and bring with me. Some of them are at Mom's that I dug for her this winter, and I plan to get some of them and bring back here as I miss them so badly. My favorite yellow of all time is there and it is Imperial Lemon. Can't wait to get some of it back here for next year!! LOl JanG.

Their oldies, but they sure bloom great! I have three of those (Cherry Cheeks, Shady Lady and Rocket City), and they will always be in my garden because of how striking they are and their hardiness.

I love the oldies too. I had to leave a bunch behind when we moved, but I did bring 'Cherry Cheeks.' I need to find a few to plant again - 'Golden Chimes,' 'Autumn Minaret,' and of course 'Hyperion.'

I also have SHADY LADY. I have found it doesn't send up alot of scapes here in my garden so the bloom period is rather quick. It has been here for 4 years and increases wonderfully.

I like the ROCKET CITY. Bright and cheery.

Some oldies are my favorites! I only have Cherry Cheeks of yours, but I love it.

Here's Imperial Lemon for Jan53__2008. I had to post it since you mentioned it, Jan. Last year was the first year blooming here. I received it in a trade in '08. Love the flower color and big size-every bit of 7 inches. You can see it from all over the yard. It's full of buds right now and should open soon for me to enjoy again this year.

I too love the golden oldies. I have a few that I won't part with, and Cherry Cheeks is one of them.
