Comments (30)Re: How to post photos. Posting Photos to Garden Web Does this help? If not I wrote my own, how to: Join photobucket.com (it's free) - create a folder - select upload photos (several "formats" such as multiple or new uploader or old uploader, etc-) - transfer your photos from the name of the folder you created in your "My Documents" - "My Pictures" - and then select, upload. . .Now your photos are on photobucket. Left & Right click your mouse on the third string of characters, "line" underneath each photograph, select "copy" and then > add that string of characters here in the Message Box (that we all type in). And wham, you click on the blue box called, "Preview Message" - and you'll see your photo - along with any text you may have typed. Dax...See MoreChamaecyparis (any) Photo Gallery 2010
Comments (16)Chamaecyparis laws. 'Blue Nantais' Must be written as Chamaecyparis laws. 'Bleu Nantais' It's a Frenche selection with a French name. Chamaecyparis pisif. 'Cream Ball' aka 'Silver Surprise' are in reality Chamaecyparis pisif. 'Plumosa Flavescens' which is the name that must be used. Stephen is right about the Chamaecyparis obt. 'Snowflake' which does have white dots. If these were yellow the cultivar name was 'Safron Spray'. Both are branch mutations found on a Chamaecyparis obt. 'Chabo-yadori'. The species Chamaecyparis nootkatensis don't exist anymore, I still use the species Xanthocyparis nootkatensis but some say it's Cupressus nootkatensis......See MorePinus densiflora Photo Gallery 2010
Comments (16)'Silver Ghost' is a Pinus bungeana cultivar indeed. Will show us this one and not the Pinus densiflora 'Golden Ghost'. Also the silvery bark comment is for the 'Silver Ghost', not for the 'Golden Ghost'. Pinus bungeana doesn't have the typical red buds which Pinus densiflora does have, also the needles are differend. Frank, that 'Ceserini's Variegated' looks fantastic! It looks more white/yellow then variegated! I see a litte difference in colour in the left under part. What is this? You're telling us that these seedling are from last March, but in my opinion these are 2 years old, are these from March last year? Which Picea seedlings you're showing us in the first pic? Please keep us informed in the future about these seedlings. (If I remember well I asked you this before, I'm very curious which new varieties you will find ;0)) 'Golden Ghost' in my collection....See MoreAutumn color Photo Gallery 2010
Comments (46)Kleckas, Maria's photo in this same topic made me surch for this 'Curvis Moerchant' because I wasn't familiar with this cultivar before. A little investigation brought my to my German friend Jörg Kohout and he mentioned this cultivar written this way at his website (see link). As he is a very good plantsman he's very trustful when it come's to conifer names. The name curvis (like curved) make more sence because the branches are twisted. Indeed, 'Little Bogle' is listed as a Larix decidua cultivar but it is certainly not, it's wood is as red as a crawfish which is a characteristic of Larix kaempferi. The thing is that a lot of people believes all what is written on a tag or what is written in a book. It's very important to watch the plant by it's characteristics and then make a conclusion what it realy is... Tommy Tsuga, Your plant is what we discussed a little while ago and is at a lot of places sold as Picea glauca 'Echiniformis' which it isn't and it seems that this cultivar isn't availlable in the U.S. at all. This plant is Picea mariana 'Nana', Picea mariana 'Echiniformis' doesn't exist. Maybe the explanation for your less growing rate is the place were your plant is standing in your garden, the Pinus flexilis (?) at the right next to it didn't grow that well either. But maybe I'm wrong in this case and if that is so I want to say sorry to you. Here is a link that might be useful: Larix kaempferi 'Curvis Moerchant'...See Morefirefightergardener
