Tuesday Blooms

It's a good time, I don't need to choose much to post ;) I don't know how ladies with more than 100 flowers decide what to show :))

It cooled down considerably here, to I guess 50s at night, and at 10am not all of them were open flat.

Here are some new, FFOs, and couple repeats

Wild Horses FFO - opened fully; this is also one of the plants where a scape dried out

:) This should be in 'Our daylily mistakes'. It's FFO on Chorus Line. I managed to find some room couple weeks ago and I was determined to move my first (bareroot) daylilies which I planted way too close. Of course most of them were with scapes by that time, and Chorus Line is only one of them that kept the buds, but here's the flower. Note to self - do not transplant with scapes!

Berry Delicious, again. Usually the first flower is not so good and then it improves. Not the case with this one. After very good FFO the flowers either don't open fully or tangle in their ruffles. This is only one of three today that looked more or less, it's also smaller than FFO

And now that most of mine are with scapes I go and look for dried up scapes, yes, a lot of plants have them :( I found today that Grace Brooker that opened its FFO y'day, that very scape dried out. And found a cluster of buds laying near Lullaby Baby, now this time I know what happened - my husband was mowing yesterday, and LB is too close to the lawn. Here's another Daylily Mistake.

Very pretty Nate. My daylilies are opening slower this year. Odd year. It's a tie between Loaves and /fishes and Undercurrent. I love the colrs of those two. Here, they would be more red.

Wild Horses is gorgeous. I love the pattern on the sepals. And poor Chorus Line. She looks like she's crying out for help. You have several lovely purples, I think Undercurrent is my favorite.

I have had only one with dried out scapes - Little Grapette - I think (no labels), and every single one of the scapes is lost. Fine, it was a bonus and I don't like it anyway. (You can tell I don't like them when I call them 'it' instead of 'she'.)

Continued FORSYTH RASPBERRY RIMMED: A nice plant the keeps going in a poor area. FORBIDDEN DESIRES: Not a rapid increaser. ROSE F KENNEDY: Great bloom. I need to move it to a better spot. This was the first flower on Ruffled Strawberry Parfait X Sonoran Desert Rose. I hope that means it is a late bloomer, as both its parents are. New Tangerine Twist is one of our favorite Klehms. Here is a seedling from it crossed with Susan Ruoff. This was the first flower open on this first year seedling. It is Wolverine X Fruitful Discovery. That's enough for today. Nancy

David, if I weren't so lazy I would go out and count. I know it looked pretty good. It is certainly a good grower and a good height.. I can't remember if I got it (from Laura, thank you!) in fall of 2018, or following spring. Last year's blooms by the end of day were papery at the edges and curling up. This year it has been holding up much better, and has gone through temps in the low 90s. May not hold up any higher, but that is ok, I don't either. I have not quite decided if I like it or not, but will probably keep it because of the oddity. My husband really likes it. Debra, I got it last fall, so mine had time to settle in. Or maybe it just wanted to show your MM up! I think it is the form of the seedling I like, so many gold/red eyes out there. The first blooms were very large, today's not so much. Thank you Brad and Kay! Kay, I really do like Mr. Mayor, huge bloom, dark with watermark, just the kind of flower I like!

A really nice group! Navajo Pony is one of my favorites here too. VG Starburst caught my eye, as well as Frieda and Bo Knows. Jerry Hyatt does well here after I moved it. Sometimes, for some inexplicable reason, a plant just does not like a spot, while others flourish there. It had dainty foliage, blooms just out of the foliage there. I moved it a couple of years ago and suddenly foliage got bigger, scapes twice the height, larger blooms.

Ahhh- love Wild Horses! I had trouble deciding between Egyptian Queen and Wild Horses. Love them both.

Oh yes, these are quite lovely. Just keep on taking pictures! My favorite is Loaves and Fishes. I do love the coloring and eye on that one. I have it here in my garden also and it is a good one.

Undercurrent & Loaves & Fishes are my favorites! I like the unusual round eye of George Jets On too. Such a shame that Berry Delicious doesn't open well, a beautiful flower.

OH I love the last two. they are soo pretty.I have had some BUDS dry out and turn brown and drop off, not the scapes drying up/

Oooh! You have some very nice ones open today. I love Wild Horses and Berry Delicious, but Undercurrent with its color, edge and some pinching in the throat is my favorite.

Love Wild Horses, and Loaves and Fishes, but Undercurrent is my very favorite. What a gorgeous color.

Thanks everybody for your nice comments!
I looked at them in afternoon to see how they looked after the sun. Almost all were baked and faded. Siloam Doodlebug looked quite good, almost like in the morning, but the champion was Wild Horse, it looked just like in the morning, with slight diamond dusting, vibrant colors and all, what a good daylily.
But I don't want to grow only light and small flowers. Oh well, I'll enjoy the rest in the mornings.
