i test the nose of everyone who walks by one in my yard ... most will get the citrus smell ...

but there is one fragrance therein ..... to my nose ... that it is spot on ...

There is one Abies concolor around here that smells alot like pineapple. I always crushed it, but its not to big so i have left it alone of late...

The scents of citris fruits are a result of different types of Terpene, and Terpene is also produced by conifers - "They are the major components of resin, and of turpentine produced from resin. The name "terpene" is derived from the word "turpentine"-

It is a defensive chemical.
