My garden seems very lush this year

I'm not sure if it's all the moisture or my garden finally decided to leap. I'm sure loving it though, even though I would sure appreciate more than than the odd sunny day here and there.

How is your late spring garden doing?

Green here too, just need some heat now to get the veggies going. Going to be another bumper year for the saskatoon berries, yummy, yummy pies and syrup. C

My gardens are all planted this year so they look pretty pitiable. All the perennials are just sitting in the cool Alaska soil (even raised beds)not looking like they are doing a darn thing-hopefully they are establishing good root systems. I have a couple more flats of misc. annuals to tuck in and around the gardens so they won't hopefully look naked all summer.

I am in San Diego and my neighbor has been growing it for 3 years....they look like mini palm trees now. I asked him for some seed and he said he has never seen seed pods in the 3 years he's had it....maybe that is why it isn't available? I have no idea. Is it possible to get a cutting and it would root?

Thanks - I have enjoyed the pics of both of your gardens and wanted to join in. howelbama- I saw these arches on this forum last year and ran right out and got some cattle panels. I have pole beans on some and cucumbers on some. rabbits nipped down many of the pole beans early, some have re started and I have added more transplants. I also lost most of the first batch of cukes to vine borers who were out early this year, so I have just transplanted in new ones this week. They were not quite this bare on the first of July last year. There is also a couple of morning glories on each arch, so if the beans and cukes dont make it again, at least something will be there. Chicago- I am on the other side of the state, about an hour from the Twin Cities.

yes, I really like it and would buy it again . I feel like my clothes are coming out really clean. I've only had it two weeks. I think I probably used too much soap in that load of towels. Something to consider is repair /parts availability in your area. I would talk to the service person in your area for both machines. You can find them on the manufacturer site. That LG is a really good looking machine.:) It seems to me the more bells and whistles you have the more there is to break down. And in the end, I never use all those bells and whistles. I have a 3 year old Bosch dishwasher and really like it so that pulled me in the Bosch direction. I also considered the Duet. My daughter has it and likes it but I think there may be a problem with a week door handle on that. The one in the store was broken. Good luck with your decision. They cost a lot and you sure don't want to buy something you will hate. I was worried that there might be a steep learning curve, but I've adjusted without any problems. My only worry is that on the rare occasion that my husband will do a load, he will throw in a cup of detergent. He doesn't follow directions very well . LOL

6 year old soil--can it support my container garden this year?

It is not a valid comparison to equate what farmers do with inground soil conditions and gardening in containers. Container potting soil will continue to breakdown and compact, impeding good drainage and eliminating aeration and porosity. That doesn't happen when gardening in the ground. It has nothing at all to do with nutrient content as potting soil offers little to none - it ALL must be supplied by the grower. And while the grower can provide nutrients as needed, the only way the grower can ensure fast drainage and proper aeration is by replacing the soil annually.

Vegies are all doing well but could use some sun. Tomatoes REALLY need some sun and the annuals tend to like it a bit moist. Same with my hostas. Not as many bloooms on peonies this year.~sigh~

Mine are doing pretty well. Some of my TB irises are blooming or about to bloom. The roses seem to have good cane counts this spring and are budding out. I'm considering a restraining order against the columbines. :O

My tomatoes look blighted. Not sure what's going on, they haven't totally died but they have some brown spots.

My garden's very lush with weeds. My 3 year old delphinium is huge , the lilies look great, the irises are blooming like crazy, some of the tomatoes have obviously decided they like their new spot, the rhubarb looks like it already needs picking, the roses seem to have survived the rabbit and voles, the daylilies are coming along very nicely......now if I could just get all the annuals planted. By the sounds of this, my yard is looking good, but no......not even close. If you stand and look at each individual thing, it's looking fairly good, but if you take an overall view......yikes ! Work, work, and more work.=:)
