oh, my! Another flower forager. I found my lovely pink rain lillies about the same way. Some "grass" on the side of the sidewalk looked like it might be a wild onion. I pinched and sniffed, but no onion smell. Then I dug one up and behold, it WAS a bulb - of some kind. I dug up the rest (3 or 4)took them home and planted them. Come the summer rains, I was delighted to see a flower I actually recognized.
As for the spider lillies, I've seen them growing in some pretty rough places. I would think one would try to more or less replicate the conditions they were found growing in. let us know how they do. cora

Hi there Cora ~ I am a flower forager on occasion, these just happened to be on our property but out at the extreme roadside edge. I wanted to enjoy them inside our property so we dug them up. Thanks for the tip on growing the spider lilies.

Aren't rain lilies sweet little flowers. They just seem happy to me.

I dugged up my rain lilies on a vacant lot near my house. I love those little lillies. My spider lilies are in the shade,(only flowers once in awhile) I need to move to a sunny location but I ran out of bed space.
