Looks fine to me (its probably within 2-3 feet of its “ideal/perfect” spot anyways), plus it looks happy and has room to grow indefinitely (in 15++ years its skirt may bump into the fence or arborvitaes, no big deal, they widen slowly). Weeping white spruce is one of my faves, just wish they grew faster. I like what you have done and are doing with your backyard. Id like to see a pic in 5 years when your solid wall of arborvitae has filled out and with the new stuff going in front of them. A background of “wall o smaragd” for your new bed, how cool is that?! Also, how about some yellow, blue, and red, especially since the plum is going?

Mmm, I guess I’ve created some confusion, but tj got it. The gist of my post was merely to show some mature White Spruce. ‘Pendula’ is a favorite, but I enjoy seeing mature native species in the landscape. Picea glauca may not win the spruce beauty contest, but it’s a reliable performer and I’m happy to have it.

It could also be a very similar looking fungal disease called stigmina needle cast, but you’d need a 10x hand magnifier to truly observe the difference. A local horticulturist in the area would give you an accurate diagnosis and the best treatment options, but that service may come at a cost. In a mature tree, treatment of both needle cast diseases would be worthwhile, but often that involves using a specific pesticide and up to three years of spray-treatment to prevent further infection and spores spreading. Personally, with your spruce being so young (and already looking severely infected), I would remove it to protect the rest of the surrounding area. If you decide to remove it, make sure any needles or branches that fall off are also disposed of as those will also contain spores (either hot composting or burning). Definitely send the photos and mention both needle cast diseases, hopefully the nursery has someone on-site who can confirm or properly diagnosis it.
