Wow..it's hard to believe we're in the home stretch of this RR. I hope everyone is happy with the items they chose! Since Sassy & Julie were the only ones to SHOW me where they lived...I'm not choosing a winner....each will recieve a little extra something in the mail. OA ... I'll check w/hubby on the saw blade info...he's sleeping now ...I'm the night owl. Yes, you can steal my hair-do, lady ... you save money on shampoo & when you get up in the morning, you don't need to style your hair! (altho I have cried many a tears ...but it's ok as long as the chemo does it's dirty work) ... in this pic tho, I now have no eyebrows, no eyelashes... no one told me how that would feel (& look) ...but it's part of the journey. 'Nuf said, uh. Now that trunk you're talking about I got on clearance @Hobby Lobby some yrs ago ... has to be at least 10 ... probably closer to 15 ... anyway, it's the 'girls' chest ...there's some dolls, fancy scarves, jewels galore & fancy belts in it ... I still have a young gr-gd who gets into it. ;-) Yes, I'll take another pic of it...it's stuck in that corner right now w/the tree & ice skating pond up. Now the boys they have the wood trunk under the nativity set...it's full of cars, trucks & the girls like it, too ~~ of course, they all used to get into both trunks! Now the Hoosier is the 'game cabinet' it's been one since our son was in Jr. Hi ... now that's a few yrs ago! Full of board games, fun battery games & all kinds of stuff! Santa always brings a kid game & an adult game on Christmas Eve to stay at the Sammons' household. ;-) Yes, the wood bear is probably `12 - 15" tall ... movable legs & forearms with jute ties. We aren't too old for bows!! Forget the ones with bunnies & such but a solid color even with a single line of trim down the middle pulls the hair out of the way & makes it neat. Lots of women all ages use hair bows out here. I wear a bun(ponytail,wrap hair around fingers run small plain barrette to hold & pin down so it looks like I don't have any hair. So if I know someone is taking pics of me or going to DMV I make sure I have a not too floppy bow in red, navy or black so when I see the pic I don't look bald. I can braid my hair but that also can break it so just easier to wear it up. It's so fine that now that its thinner the french roll slides out, I had a donut shaped mesh thing with brown covering years ago I used & wrapped my hair around that, sure wish I'd saved it. I don't like feel of scarves, baseball cap, headband etc around my head, my sun hats last about 10 min unless wind blows them off 1st. I was kid that didn't wear a hat of any kind as a kid, long acrylic scarves that were about 15-18 in. wide were worn only to keep warm & ears & nose from freezing off. Bows are comfortable & sometimes hide my wild hair!!Tho it has a mind of its own! Jan

Beth, I have been so delighted and educated with all these posts. I love the evolution of your wonderfully charming home! You are an amazing woman! I share several of the decorating dilemmas you've mentioned. My "living room" is about 2' more narrow and 2' shorter than your area. I'm learning a lot from your post. The repurposed gun cabinet idea is absolute genius. Please share a photo when you've installed the shelves and contents. Regarding the non-glare glass for your larger artwork. The price of non-glare glass has become simply ridiculous. I have an entire hallway lined with (Gasp!) a family gallery wall. It includes photos from more than 100 years ago to this year's school pics of the great-nephew. Color, colorized, sepia toned, black and white, all mixed together and mostly in their original mismatched frames. That just about breaks all the rules, but I love my wall. Several of the older photos - Mom's 1954 graduation photo; MIL's 1952 wedding photo, etc. - had plain glass. I can't tolerate the glare either. I made a note in my iPod of all the frame sizes that needed replacement non-glare glass. Every time I'm at a thrift shop or yard sale I check out the "frames" area. You can often find large pictures that may be in horrid frames, but they will have non-glare glass! I buy the frame, take out the glass, and toss the rest. I found one very large print of ballet slippers framed with non-glare that was big enough to cut down into several pieces. It made one 8x10 and three 5x7 pieces of non-glare glass for my wall, all for $1. With their permission, I took the glass out at the shop, tossed the faded print, and re-donated the empty frame back to them.
