I had philodendron very similar to this but my grew as a vine, these varieties I believe grow more upright than other philodendrons. The one i had got massive and thats no understatement. It was about 9 feet across and had monsterous leaves. a few of which reached almost 2 feet in length! I ended up trading to a friend who ran a houseplants shop. When she saw it she said she has never seen one so large. Maybe I have an incorrect ID on it. We just assumed that it started as a cutting from a moon glow phil. because the upright form can only be propagated by tissue culture I think. Great plant! I loved mine. They grow very easy and are not too picky. Steve

Thanks again, especially for the candytuft ID, they are the stars of the spiral right now but they're starting to go to seed. I have a fountain in the front yard, and although I agree it would look great I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle in that particular spot. Birds love fountains, consequently they need to be cleaned frequently and it always involves splashing a lot of water on the ground and walking around the fountain a bit. Maybe I could get a birdbath and hook it to the irrigation system, but a statue would be easier and require less maintenance. I think I'm a one fountain person, a second is not something I relish taking care of but I wouldn't dream of getting rid of the one I have. Most recently a bench has been added to the garden, I realized that the place where the path brushes the raised bed is the coolest and most comfortable spot to hang out so I mentioned it to the DH and next thing I knew we had a new bench. I love it, it's perfect for sitting and enjoying my new area.

seasidecottage .. i love your name! Its my dream house... lol Anyway, i recently added an arbor to my yard. I bought it for 150 at lowes, and am really pleased with it. But i wish i had waited to build my own,,,so i wonder, are you handy? If you need it to be cheap you could find a woodworking plan to build your own. I found the perfect swing arbor plan for myself on amazon . Im not sure what you want planted on it, or how sturdy you need it, but ive seen an arbor made out of 3 old wooden rung ladders. So charming! Perfect for annuals. When i was searching for an arbor i looked online but decided local would be best..because shipping can get crazy and its nice to see in person the quality.
